TOPWATER THRILLS WITH THE HEDDON SUPER SPOOK JR

There is something truly special about topwater fishing. The anticipation, the explosive strikes, and the sight of a predator smashing a lure on the surface never get old.

An early morning session delivered exactly that, with a feisty Pickhandle Barracuda falling victim to the legendary Heddon Super Spook Jr. After losing a fish right at the landing point earlier in the session, patience and soft hands were the order of the day. This fish was carefully played, successfully landed, photographed, and safely released to fight another day.

The Super Spook Jr. once again proved why it remains a favourite among topwater anglers. Its irresistible walk-the-dog action and surface commotion are often too much for aggressive predators to ignore.

When the conditions are right, few techniques can match the excitement of watching a fish charge up from below and destroy a lure on the surface.

How to Rig It (Running Trace Setup)
Slide an egg-shaped sinker onto your mainline
(weight depends on depth, current & wind)
Tie your mainline to a Linx Power Swivel
Add a short 15–30cm fluorocarbon hook link (15–20lb recommended)
