Bronze Bream Fishing

We headed down to one of our local spots along the East London coastline with one goal in mind – targeting bronze bream.

For today's session, we fished with a BKK Offset Circle Hook, paired with the 11-foot Loomis & Franklin Archipelago spinning rod and the Loomis & Franklin Shoremaster reel. It's a lightweight, versatile setup that's ideal for working the rocks and handling quality fish.

Our bait of choice was fresh pink prawn, a proven favourite when targeting bronzebream along the coastline.

One of the biggest keys to success is fishing a pushing tide and focusing on areas with white, working water. That's where these fish are actively feeding, giving you the best chance of getting a bite.

The action didn't disappoint, and we managed to land several good-sized bronzebream throughout the session. As always, every fish was carefully released to fight another day.

The best part about this setup is its versatility. Whether you're scratching, spinning, plugging, or fishing drop shot, this rod and reel combination is more than capable of handling it all.

And the techniques used today aren't limited to East London—they can be applied right along the South African coastline wherever bronzebream are found.
