Each year in South Africa there are approximately 1 500 fatal drownings of which 450 are children.
On average, more than one child drowns every day.
The vast majority of these deaths could and should have been prevented.
25 July 2021, marked the first United Nations World Drowning Prevention Day.
The NSRI urged South Africans to make water safety and swimming lessons a priority to save children’s lives.
Prevention is better than cure.
Give them the gift of safety.
