Mira came with to SMITHS ANIMAL FEEDS so we could buy these massive square bales of eragrostis for the horses, only R95 each!!! Can you believe it!?! And they are very big heavy square bales 😍 The awesome team at Smiths couldn't believe how well Mira has recovered since we rescued her , and the lucky girl was given a pack of dog treats!

Thank you Smith_Animal_Feeds for quality we can trust, prices we can afford and service we can rely on 🙏🐴🐕✨️

PLEASE HELP US SAVE THE VALLEY! This is one of the very last areas that wildlife have left to live and these people want to destroy it for profit. They do not care about the environment and they do not care about the community their only care is their bottom line.

The proposed RAINBOW SA farm in Killarney Valley, Mkhambathini Local Municipality , is a mere 200 meters away from Heartland KZN and a mere 150meters away from Bridges of Hope orphanage.

⚠️ URGENT ⚠️ Please help save the valley. Take 2minutes and send an email to oppose this.

Icebo Enviro Projects is handing out Notice forms for the proposed development of yet another chicken farm. Please oppose 🙏 Save the environment, save the valley

We already have multiple chicken farms within a 10km radius. The wildlife are suffering, the environment is being destroyed , don't let them build another one. This one is being built directly across the gate from Heartland KZN

SUBJECT: FORMAL OBJECTION – PROPOSED LARGE-SCALE BROILER FARM, KILLARNEY NO. 855, CAMPERDOWN

Dear Ms Shange / Icebo Enviro Projects,
I hereby wish to formally register my objection to the proposed development of the large-scale commercial broiler farming operation on Farm Killarney No. 855, Camperdown, within the uMkhambathini Local Municipality.

I also request to be registered as an Interested and Affected Party (I&AP) and kept informed of all further notices, reports, applications and decisions relating to this development.

I am concerned about the environmental and cumulative impact of establishing another intensive poultry operation in an area where several poultry farms already operate.

The Background Information Document itself identifies a number of potentially serious impacts, including:

Pollution and contamination of nearby water resources;

The Mlazi River being approximately 500 metres from the proposed development;
Stormwater runoff, sedimentation and soil erosion;

Poultry manure, wastewater, chemicals and other agricultural waste;

Odour, dust and noise pollution;
Increased traffic and heavy vehicle movement;

Clearing and disturbance of vegetation;
Impacts on wildlife and the surrounding ecosystem;

Potential disruption to neighbouring landowners and existing agricultural activities.

I am particularly concerned that the environmental assessment must consider the cumulative impact of this development together with the existing poultry farms and other intensive agricultural activities already operating within the surrounding area, rather than assessing this development in isolation.

Before any Environmental Authorisation or Water Use Licence is granted, I request that comprehensive independent specialist assessments be undertaken regarding water quality, groundwater, biodiversity, wildlife, wetlands/watercourses, stormwater, waste and manure management, odour, air quality, traffic, noise and the cumulative environmental impact on the wider valley.

The protection of the Mlazi River, surrounding ecosystems, wildlife, neighbouring properties and the long-term environmental integrity of the Camperdown/Killarney valley must take precedence over further intensive development where significant environmental risks remain.

I therefore formally object to the proposed development in its current form and request that my objection be recorded as part of the Basic Assessment and Water Use Licence Application processes.

Please acknowledge receipt of this objection in writing and confirm that I have been registered as an Interested and Affected Party.

Kind regards,

South Africa has just made history, and it could mean BIG things for rhino conservation! 🇿🇦🦏

Two healthy foals have been born in Pretoria using a groundbreaking embryo technique, marking a first for South Africa. And while these little ones are horses, what scientists are learning could one day help protect our rhinos.

It’s the result of years of work by the University of Pretoria and Hemmersbach Rhino Force, and a reminder of how science, collaboration and a whole lot of dedication can open doors to new possibilities.

We love seeing South African teams doing work that could make a real difference for our wildlife. There’s still a long way to go, but this is a pretty special step forward.
