West Wits Sub Aqua

West Wits Sub Aqua Scuba Diving It was based in the village, Blyvooruitzicht, situated outside Carletonville. At that time the club was called the Blyvoor Sub Aqua Club.

WEST WITS SUB AQUA CLUB

History:

The club was founded in 1985 with founder members Louis van der Schyff and Louis de Klerk. Due to better facilities which became available at the Elandsrand Swimming Pool, the club moved and set up base at Elandsrand. The Aqua Club was then “adopted” by Anglo American at that time the owner of Elandsrand and renamed as WestGold Sub Aqua

Club. After Harmony took control over Elandsrand and Deelkraal, the club had to re-locate once more. Western Levels Village swimming pool was then identified and the WestGold Sub Aqua Club set up base where it currently operates from. It was again renamed as West Wits Sub Aqua Club and then privatized. From the start the club was SAUU / CMAS orientated and all students were trained as SAUU and later as CMAS divers. Recently NAUI was added as a training facility. All the Instructors in the club are doing training after hours – so instruction is of a high quality as the guys doing it are doing it for the love and fun of it! Divers from all affiliations are welcome. Activities:
Regular diving trips are organized by the club to the regular dive venues listed below:

• Basslake
• Miracle waters
• Wondergat
• South Coast
• Sodwana
• Mozambique
• Sodwana
• Bobbejaansgat
• Wetsgat
• Odd dive sites – with odd dive sites we mean doing search and recovery operations in local dams and rivers to get our senior divers more experience on diving on the Wild Side!!! What does the club have to offer?
• Training: from Open Water to Instructor
• From Compressor operator to Trimix & Cave diver.
• Air fills & Nitrox blending – 300bar filling station
• Kit hire
• Social events and evenings.
• Swimming pool Facilities

Hello Scuba Dubas! 🤿
With the cold creeping in faster than a penguin stealing your fins, we’ve shuffled the Scuba Diver Course dates a little:
• Theory: This coming Saturday (time to exercise those brain gills 🧠🐟)
• Pool Training: 28 March (where the splashing begins)
• Qualifying Dives: Sometime in April – exact date still surfacing… stay tuned!
