The Greek Dancing Academy of Cape Town was started in 1976 to teach Traditional Greek Dances to the members of the Hellenic Community of Cape Town, and more specifically to it's children and youth. Since then it has grown and has teachers with a repertoire of dances from all over Greece and Cyprus, as well as the Modern Greek dances (like the Zorba), and teaches anyone of any age. Its aim has evol

ved from reminding the Greeks of their roots, to showing anyone who is willing to learn what being a Hellene is all about. Being the first and only Greek Dancing School in Cape Town, the members of the Academy believe that everyone should enjoy the beauty of Hellenic Dancing, not just Hellenes. To meet this goal, part of the Academy is Show Dancing, where dancers go out to Functions, Fund Raisers and Restaurants in order to show the spectators what Greek Dancing is all about. And all this with the Traditional and Modern clothing that fit the style of the dance, and the area the dance originates from. So if you are interested in Learning Greek Dancing, or Hiring the dancers for a Show, please feel free to contact us, or visit us so that you can experience for yourself the passion that drives us to DANCE!!!

Hey all! New Year, New Beginnings and well New... Greek Dances ;) Greek Dancing lessons for students will be starting on Wed the 26th of Feb for 5 (or 6) weeks. Cost R250. Please contact us if you're interested! And look out for Student lessons starting in Stellenbosch soon!!

In the Autumn 2013 Edition of the Contact magazine, this is what the President of the HSA (Andrea Coulbanis) wrote in his article about the Greek Dancing Academy of Cape Town:

"In recent years the Greek Dancing Academy of Cape Town has been a mixed group of students and scholars, which was not well attended especially by the students. However with the help of Theo Scholiadis and Valentia Papanicolaou we have managed to start student dance classes at both beginner and advance levels. We currently have 25 students attending the various classes. Classes have started and are accessible to all students. Both the beginner and advanced classes are on the same day, every Wednesday at 8pm at the Greek Club. Please go visit and like our page: https://www.facebook.com/greekdancingcpt"

It is good to see that we have sparked the interest of the Students once again!!
