Kayak School

Kayak School Learn to paddle - Kayak - Surf Ski (see Paddling for Smiles) Spending 70 days paddling alone gave him time to reflect on what was important in his life.

The Kayak School is the passion of Richard Kohler who in 2013 became the first person to paddle solo around the entire coast line of South Africa. On completing this big paddle he resigned from his job to start the Kayak School to follow his love of paddling and coaching. For his trip around South Africa he was voted Nightjar Adventurer of the Year 2013. Sporting wise Richard has competed locally

and international. Receiving colours in both canoeing and sailing. Before starting the Kayak School he was involved in the first development sailing program for Royal Cape Yacht Club in the '90's and more recently a similar program for Milnerton Canoe Club where he was chairman for a number of years. He is currently the Chairman of the Century City Canoe Club

Since 2002 he has run the popular DownWind Dash surfski/SUP race from Milnerton Beach to Big Bay every Wednesday evening in Summer.
