Streetwise Sports is dedicated to helping the homeless of the city of Cape Town. Focused on the vulnerable youth, there are weekly activities that take place across the city. There is a football program that welcomes anyone to participate, comprised of Friday league games and stimulating training sessions every Sunday. Aiming to bring positive attributes of sport and regaining fitness into the liv
es of the players. Where fun can be had, hope restored and the start of opportunities towards getting off the streets and towards employment. Players showing commitment to getting off the streets can be put in the StreetWise Squad, which is a group of players who play on Monday nights. Together alongside enjoying playing in an open league, we strengthen ties and start the process towards the stability of employment. Another area of focus are the children of the Bo-Kaap Kraal. The Kraal is the only informal settlement in the CBD of Cape Town. Situated in the picturesque colorful Bo-Kaap but crippled with severe drug and substance abuse in the families of the children, leaving young vulnerable children that need guidance and constructive entertainment. Running a homework initiative program and sports activities after school we aim to bring life skills and a vision of a successful future to these children. Empowering them with the knowledge it is all in their hands to be what you dream, and helping them along the way with the necessary life skills to getting there. A gardening project is also taking place within this community. Garden plots have been made, planting has started and a program lies ahead of sustainable growing of food for the community to be part of.
