What is SwimXt?
In 2021, Devon Card approached Cheryl to assist with his training preparation for the Tokyo Olympics. This was the launch of SwimXt, a swim training and land-based conditioning programme designed specifically for waterpolo players.
Having personally benefited from the SwimXt program, Devon along with Rangers Waterpolo Club, has invited Cheryl to join the elite coaching team in a quest for waterpolo excellence!
A combination approach to training includes deep core activation, increased range of motion, muscle balancing and joint stability.
Each session starts off with dry-land training followed by pool based drill sets.
Age appropriate props and equipment are used for each age and ability group.
Cheryl has identified the key elements required for optimum performance in the pool as a need for both active and passive muscle flexibility whilst supporting joint mobility. This delicate balance, when achieved, guards against overuse injuries and allows for untapped explosive power and exceptional agility when playing.
