The 1970’s and 1980’s was an interesting time for cricket in Langa as many great players came through, namely; through: Stamford Somyo, ‘Killer’ Mshumpela, the Malamba family (Ben, Basil and Rodney), Junior Sokhanyile, Ezra Cagwe, Solomon Fassie and many more. With the 1990’s in full swing, cricket in Langa was at its peak. The hard work of the fore pioneers and the likes of John Passmore and Bo

b Woolmer produced quality cricketers for the junior national sides and junior provincial sides. These players were, notable among these players was, Morgan Mfobo, the first Black African to make the South African Schools team since Unity in 1992. The others to follow were the likes of Freeman Simelela, Thami Tsolekile, Albert Nkomo, Cyprian Nyulu and many others. In the recent years, the club has continued to produce provincial players with the current crop of players representing in South African’s first class system. The players involved are Thami Tsolekile, Themba Bavuma, Malusi Siboto and Siyabulela Simetu, with a few more in on the fringes.
