Drug-Free Sport ZA

Drug-Free Sport ZA The SA Institute for Drug-Free Sport’s core focus is to tackle doping in sport in order to foster a culture of ethics & fair play.

The Drug-Free Sport Act gives SAIDS authority to carry out drug testing and provide education services nationally. Testing is an integral part of protecting clean athletes, but we firmly believe that an athlete's first encounter with anti-doping should be through anti-doping education. We therefor offer a range of in-person and online/ electronic education resources to empower athletes and their s

upport personnel to make informed choices regarding doping / anti-doping. Our "I PLAY FAIR" campaign is in support of clean athletes and those who hero the values of true sportsmanship. We aim to engage our sporting heroes in particular to pledge their support for the education and doping control efforts towards keeping sport 'clean, to be proud of playing their part and in doing so, help set a good example for the younger generation. We all play a role in creating a values-based, drug-free sports culture all South Africans can be proud of.

SAIDS collaborated with SASCOC to celebrate Olympic Day by engaging athletes on two things that define true champions: Olympic values and clean sport.

We shared the heart of Olympism, Excellence, Respect, Friendship and how anti-doping protects those values. No shortcuts, no compromises. Just fair play, hard work, and integrity from the first training session to the podium.

Proud to stand with SA athletes who choose to every day. The Olympic dream starts with fair play.

SAIDS is collaborating with the Biokinetics Association of South Africa at North West University, Potchefstroom. We unpacked the critical role biokineticists play in the athlete entourage: understanding anti-doping responsibilities, guiding safe rehab & exercise, and helping athletes compete clean.

When practitioners are informed, athletes are protected. Thanks to BASA and NWU for prioritizing integrity in athlete support.

To every biokineticist: your knowledge keeps sport fair and athletes safe. AthleteSupportPersonnel

These young athletes are putting in the hard work on the field and off it. Massive respect for asking smart questions and taking ownership of clean.
Play tough, play fair, play clean.

Players, tag your teammate and drop one thing you learned about staying clean.

SAIDS had an anti doping education engagement with athletes at the SA Wrestling Beast of the East tournament in Pretoria. We broke down the real dangers and consequences of doping, plus how to avoid inadvertent doping, supplement risks, med checks, and the golden rule: when in doubt, check it out.

Respect to every wrestler who hit the mats and took the message seriously. Real strength is equal to discipline, technique, and integrity.

Thanks to SA Wrestling for backing clean sport.

Wrestlers, what’s your go-to step before taking any supplement or med? Share below and tag your club.

SAIDS ran an anti-doping workshop with the Limpopo Blue Bulls junior teams as they prep for Rugby Week. We covered player roles and responsibilities: checking meds, avoiding supplement risks, knowing testing procedures, and speaking up when unsure.

Tournaments are won with discipline on and off the field. Proud of these young Bulls for taking ownership of their careers early.

Play hard, play clean

Players, tag a teammate and drop one anti-doping rule you’ll remember this week.
