🇿🇦💙 FROM LITTLE MARLIN TO TEAM SOUTH AFRICA 💙🇿🇦

Some moments make you stop and realise just how far a swimmer has come. 🥹

Today, Ava leaves for Gaborone, Botswana, where she will represent South Africa 🇿🇦 at the XXII Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming Championships, taking place from 2–5 September 2026.

Ava’s journey started long ago, from a very young age she had big dreams. Through years of training, learning, racing, PBs, challenges and countless hours in the pool… to the young athlete she is today, proudly earning the opportunity to represent her country. 🇿🇦

Ava, we are SO incredibly proud of you.

We know how much hard work you have put into getting here. Trust that work, trust yourself and know that your entire Blouberg Marlins family is standing behind you and cheering you on. 💙

Another fast session with some awesome racing from our Blouberg Marlins! 💙🔥

Ruan, Leah and Max were in the pool today, with all three putting in some fantastic swims and representing the Marlins with pride. 💪🏻🌊

But today deserves an extra special mention for Ruan…
Ruan delivered a massive PB in the 100m Backstroke — AND achieved a confirmed Senior Nationals qualifying time! 🏊‍♂️🔥🇿🇦

That is a HUGE achievement and a brilliant reward for all the hard work, commitment and hours that happen behind the scenes.

An evening to celebrate so much more than medals and trophies.

Our Blouberg Marlins Prize-Giving is a chance to recognise the incredible journey behind every achievement — the early mornings, countless training hours, determination, PBs, challenges overcome and those moments when a swimmer discovers just how much they are capable of.

We celebrate the champions who stood on podiums, but equally, we celebrate personal growth, commitment, courage and perseverance.

Every swimmer’s journey is different, and every step forward deserves recognition.

To our coaches — thank you for the passion, patience and countless hours you invest in our swimmers. 💙
To our parents and families — thank you for the early mornings, the driving, the cheering, the encouragement and for always being there behind the scenes.

This one is extra special. 🥹💙

For some of our little Blouberg Marlins, getting into the water wasn’t something they looked forward to. And that’s exactly why moments like these mean so much. Before we can teach a child to swim, we first need to help them believe that they can.

Little by little, lesson by lesson, that fear begins to disappear. A hand lets go of the wall. A nervous face becomes a smile. “I can’t” slowly becomes “Look what I can do!” 🌊

And suddenly, we’re not just teaching swimming anymore.

We’re building confidence, courage, trust and independence — things they will carry with them far beyond the swimming pool.

To see them now, enjoying their lessons and discovering what their bodies are capable of, is incredibly special.

We haven’t just won them over to swimming.
We’ve won over their confidence 💙
And that is one of the greatest achievements of Learn to Swim.

To our brave little Marlins: we are SO proud of you. Keep trying, keep smiling and keep making those little waves. 🥰🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️
