🌸 Ladies Team Building – 06 June 2026 🌸
Run Walk For Life Table View

What a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter, creativity, friendship, and just a little bit of wine! 🍷😊

For one afternoon, the ladies traded their running shoes for arts and crafts, and what a fantastic decision that turned out to be. From folding beautiful Proteas from the pages of old books, to sharing snacks, celebrating a birthday, and enjoying endless laughter, the room was filled with joy.

Some discovered a hidden talent for paper folding, while others may have accidentally invented an entirely new species of wildflower! πŸŒΊπŸ˜‚ But that didn't matter. What mattered was the fun, the memories made, and the smiles shared.

At the end of the day, everyone went home with something special β€” a beautiful handmade Protea, a few funny stories, and hearts a little fuller than when they arrived.

A perfect reminder that team building isn't always about running together; sometimes it's about creating, laughing, and making memories together. πŸ’›

For the first time ever the Male Athletes of RWFL Table View enjoyed a night out, doing some different form of sport/exercise.
It was an evening filled with loads of laughter, and also alot of testosterone building up to who is going to be the best bowler.
Great evening.
Great sportsmanship.
Great friendships.

21 YEARS AT RUN WALK FOR LIFE
Gerhard Visser

What an amazing achievement!

Here is Gerard's Story

I attended my first RWFL session on 5 June 2005. In those days, you had to walk around the field (a maximum of 1.6 km) until the manager(s) decided that you had improved sufficiently to progress to the roadβ€”no matter how fit you were!

To date, I have walked approximately 8,300 km. It should probably have been much more, but during that time I worked in the Field Section, where I was away from home for 4–6 weeks at a time.

I have also completed 275 Parkruns so far.

My first RWFL session was with the Milnerton Branch under Gary and Glenda Lightly. When Vanessa Lawrence started what is now our Table View Branch, I became the second member to join. That was probably more than 12 years ago.

A short story from those early days...

At the Milnerton Branch, we used to walk along the Milnerton Lagoon on Saturday mornings. One day, a young and very attractive lady joined the club. We started our walk, and I suddenly thought, "Hang on... I could quite happily walk behind those buns for 5 km!"

So I slowed down to let her pass me. But then... she walked so unbelievably fast that I couldn't keep up with her! πŸ˜₯

To all the newcomers: if you've dressed up, put on your takkies, and arrived at the club, you've already won the biggest battle.

Happy walking! πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

21 years of RWFL memories, friendships, kilometres, laughter, and the occasional failed attempt to keep up with a pretty lady! πŸ˜„πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸ’›πŸ’š

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Global Running Day 2026 πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŒ

Global Running Day takes place on the first Wednesday of June and is a worldwide celebration dedicated to the joy of running. It’s a day that brings millions of people together across the globe, regardless of age, fitness level, pace, or experience. Whether you're a seasoned marathon runner, a social jogger, a power walker, or someone taking their very first steps towards a healthier lifestyle, today is all about moving and having fun!

Running is about so much more than kilometres and finish lines. It's about freedom, friendship, fresh air, and that amazing feeling of achievement when you complete a session you never thought possible. It's about the early morning sunrises, the laughter shared on the road, the stories told along the way, and the friendships that turn into family.

At Run Walk For Life Table View, we celebrate every step. Some of us run fast, some of us run slow, and some of us stop halfway to discuss breakfast plans! πŸ˜‚ But one thing we all have in common is that we show up, support each other, and enjoy the journey together.

So lace up those running shoes, dust off those walking shoes, grab a friend, and get moving today. Run if you can, walk if you want to, and remember that every kilometre counts. The only pace that matters is your own!

πŸŽ‰ Happy Global Running Day from Run Walk For Life Table View! πŸŽ‰

πŸƒ Run for fitness.
🚢 Walk for health.
πŸ˜„ Move for happiness.
❀️ Stay for the friendships.

And remember... the hardest part of any run is convincing yourself that getting out of bed at 5am was a good idea! πŸ˜œβ˜•πŸ…

Do it while having fun! πŸ˜†πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

Training can be daunting. Some mornings it feels like a great adventure. Other mornings it feels like you've signed up for a personal nightmare and your bed is begging you to stay.

That's why the people you train with matter.

Surround yourself with people who make you laugh so hard that you forget how many kilometres are left. People who celebrate your victories, encourage you through your struggles, and remind you that life is far too short to take every training session seriously.

Here at Run Walk For Life Table View, that's exactly how we do it.

We walk together. We run together. We laugh together. We complain about hills together. We negotiate with the wind together. We promise "just one more kilometre" together. And when life gets tough, we even cry together.

We're not just a training group. We're a moving support group with running shoes and a questionable sense of humour.

So, happy new month! πŸŽ‰

And if you're not happy, not laughing, or not looking forward to your training sessions, then it might be time to join this team.

Warning: Side effects may include excessive laughter, lifelong friendships, and accidentally becoming fitter than you planned.

🎡 The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round... all day long! 🎡

Meanwhile, the p***a driver is shouting:"Hold on tight, people! This is not a bus ride, it's a survival experience!"

The passengers are screaming:"Faster! Louder! More gees!"while proudly declaring:"WE ARE THE RWFL TEAM!"

And just like that, our Annual Lumo Yellow Fun Bus rolled into the UWC Fast & Flat 10km!

Now, for those who don't know what a running bus is: it's a group of athletes running together behind a pace setter. In our case, we found our pace setter on Temu. We ordered "steady pace" and somehow received "chaos with confidence." πŸ˜‚

The goal wasn't to chase PBs, medals, or glory. The goal was simple: have fun, laugh a lot, and spend time together in our running shoes.

The weather tried its best to stop us. The mist was so thick we couldn't see the finish line, the photographers, or sometimes even the person running next to us. But did that stop the RWFL Fun Bus? Absolutely not!

We bulldozed through that mist like a herd of determined wildebeest that had spotted a coffee shop.

With loud cheers from the crowd, endless jokes on the route, and enough neon yellow to be visible from space, we crossed the finish line together.

No one was left behind. No one knew exactly where we were half the time. But we all made it!

A huge thank you to everyone who hopped aboard the RWFL Lumo Yellow Fun Bus 2026. You brought the laughs, the energy, and enough noise to wake half of Cape Town on a Sunday morning.

Same bus.Same madness.Same race.

See you at UWC Fast & Flat 2027! πŸšŒπŸ’›πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Medal Monday πŸ…

Today we celebrate every single victory.
Whether it was 5km or 42.2km, every step taken, every challenge faced, and every finish line crossed deserves recognition.

A medal is more than just race bling β€” it represents early mornings, tired legs, determination, sacrifice, and the courage to keep going when it got tough.

To our incredible team, well done on showing up, pushing through, and bringing home those well-earned medals with pride.
Each one tells a story of strength, perseverance, and heart.

Keep chasing goals, collecting memories, and wearing those medals proudly.
You earned every single one of them. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ₯‡

πŸ…πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ Cape Town Marathon 42.2km πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸ…

What a spectacular day it turned out to be. From the very first step, this race became more than we could ever have imagined. Cape Town showed off in all her beauty, pride, and glory, creating the perfect stage for one of Africa’s most iconic marathons.

Team Run Walk For Life Table View proudly stood among the thousands of athletes taking on this incredible challenge. Coach Andrew, Coach Cheryl, Griffin, and Wesley faced the mighty 42.2km monster head-on β€” pushing through pain, exhaustion, doubt, and every obstacle the road could throw at them.

Because that is what marathon runners do. They keep moving forward.

Pain is temporary, but victory lasts forever. These four athletes proved that with dedication, discipline, courage, and heart, absolutely anything is possible. Every kilometre told a story of perseverance, sacrifice, and determination.

Today was not just about crossing a finish line. It was about proving to yourselves that you are stronger than your excuses, braver than your fears, and capable of achieving greatness.

Well done, team.
Your RWFL Table View family is incredibly proud of you. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ”₯

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦βœ¨ Run Walk For Life Table View was proudly in the house for the opening concert of the Cape Town Marathon.

What an unforgettable evening celebrating the spirit of South Africa alongside more than 1 800 athletes from around the world. The atmosphere was electric, the pride was overflowing, and the performance by the incredible Ndlovu Youth Choir was nothing short of spectacular.

Coach Cheryl and Coach Andrew had the honour of attending this special evening, representing our club with pride and passion. This marks Coach Cheryl’s fourth consecutive year as Club Captain at this iconic event β€” a true testament to her dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to both the marathon and every member of our RWFL family.

Thank you, Coach Cheryl, for inspiring us, motivating us, and always leading from the front.

The road to Africa’s biggest marathon continues… and RWFL Table View is ready. πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ
