GOUDA => BRIDGETOWN LOADING ...
It's a big weekend for Western Cape canoeing on Saturday with provincial titles on the line, the third leg of the annual river series, the banking of entries for a new boat from a lucky draw, and the chance for more river knowledge for next month's Berg River Marathon.
The river season kicked off last weekend with the second leg of the Berg River Series. Some young guns muscled their way to the top of the timing sheets as U23 student Joshua Glyn-Cuthbert took the win with Maties teammate Jack Edmonds second, just ahead of Daniel Buys, and then a couple of vets, Heinrich Schloms and John de Villiers, rounding out the top five.
Under 16 Jarryd Cole belied his age as he just edged into the top ten, a couple of seconds ahead of, Neriyah Dill, who kept the U23 winning theme going by comfortably claiming the women's victory ahead of Ansune Basson.
This weekend the action moves downstream for Gouda to Bridgetown and the racing will take on an extra edge with provincial river titles on the line as well.
As with all the Berg Series races, each entry to the race is worth one more entry into the lucky draw for a brand new Salt kayak.
As always entries are open on the PSA Entry Portal at https://paddler.paddlesportsa.com/ and will close at midnight on Friday.
