UCT Surf Club is a social and sports club at the University of Cape Town that forms a platform to unite all UCT ocean lovers in the act of wave riding. We offer many exciting opportunities for all our members which include:

-Competitive Surfing: For the competitive surfers there are many competitions throughout the University Surfing Calendar, the highlight being the National University Champs, w

here a team is selected through a series of trials to represent UCT. The Champs are always a vibe filled with lots of UCT gees for our team to keep reclaiming the title as SA Champions.

-Social Surfing: The 2 surf trips to Koel Bay and Elands Bay are filled with campfires, surfs, beers and jams. They're opportunities to get away for a couple of days and just surf and hang out with like minded people! The trials, competitions and fun days also bring all members of the club together and we often provide food to keep the stoke.

-Learn to Surf: A series of Fun Days are run throughout the year at Muizenberg, aimed for aspiring Surf Club wave riders to be taught by other members of the club. Discounts are also available to all beginner surf members to get given lessons on a Friday at Roxy Surf Emporium. We always end Fun Days with pizzas and beers at the Bell in Kalk Bay.

-Outreach: We run an amazing outreach programme every Friday afternoon at the Surfshack Outreach Centre in Muizenberg. Volunteers from the club do learning based activities and then join the kids for a surf afterwards.

-Media: We have a club GoPro and some epic photgraphers on board providing creative documentation of all club related events. Follow us on Instagram and youtube. It’s time to paddle out and show your skills! Get ready for an epic intervarsity showdown featuring Open Men’s, Women’s, and Bodyboard divisions – open to anyone from a tertiary institution. Whether you’re chasing barrels or just stoked to rep your uni and join in on the varsity fun, this is your moment!

Got an eye for style and a love for the waves? UCT Surf Club is on the hunt for our next merch design!
Send any and all designs to our email - we’d love to see some designs we’d want to wear from campus to the coast! ☀️
