He unsubscribed from our community... He’s going to a World Cup.
Yesterday, Rich unsubscribed from our community.
Then I read the rest of his message.
He’s been selected for the New Zealand Over 60s squad to compete at the World Cup.
That was his goal when we first spoke in May 2022.
Not “improve a bit.”
Not “see how it goes.”
Make the squad.
On 2 May 2022, at the end of his season, he paid a deposit to secure his place to start when he returned to New Zealand after spending the winter in Portugal.
He didn’t start immediately.
He left for Portugal for the entire NZ winter.
We began at the end of September.
No urgency.
No panic.
Just a clear objective and a long-term decision.
Almost four years later, that decision delivered.
He wrote:
“The clarity around process, structure and mindset made a huge difference, especially under pressure.”
Especially under pressure.
That’s where most players get exposed.
We didn’t chase runs or technical quick fixes.
We installed a clear, repeatable processes in:
• How thinks
• How he trains
• How he plays matches
• How he resets after each innings
Over time, that process becomes instinct.
He still uses it almost daily.
That’s the objective.
Not dependence on a community.
Independence in the middle.
Most players drift season to season.
Serious players define the target first then commit to the work required to make it inevitable.
He said he wanted to make the squad.
Four years later, he did.
If you’re frustrated with your current results, stop asking whether you’re skillful enough.
Start asking whether you’re deliberate enough.
Comment PROCESS and I'll show you how Rich did it.
