Bergvliets Cricket Club is back... And with a BANG!!! In 2012 with the help of some committed and keen cricketers, and after many years, Bergvliet Sports Association reopened their cricket fields. Two teams were entered into the WPCA 3rd division leagues and it was full steam ahead from there. Both teams comfortably winning their respective leagues. There are already some exciting changes on the c

ards for the 'BCC' in the coming months...
This season, we have plans to enter a third side into the WPCA leagues, so we encourage all keen cricketers to join the BCC Brigade. Young or old, no matter what level/ability you are,
BCC WANTS YOU! Recent changes:
- Construction has begun for our brand-new cricket nets
- Some exciting new sponsors are on-board
- Renovation of current facilities and plans for a new clubhouse on Frank Firth Fields
- Refurbishment of the fields and pitches

Ladies XI – New Management, Same Fire

Our ladies start the season under new management and fired up. Having finished in the top five for the past two seasons, their hunger is stronger than ever as they look to continue making ripples in the ladies’ cricket scene. Taylor Cockbill heads up the team for the season under the eagle eyes of Megan Landman. We wish them all the best for the season — may the runs flow, the catches stick, and the post-match selfies be plentiful!

🏏 Bergvliet Cricket Club – The 2025/2026 Season Begins!

Dust off the bats, iron those whites, and warm up the post-match excuses — the 2025/26 WPCA league season is officially here! All five Bergvliet teams are in action this weekend, which means one thing: chaos, camaraderie, and hopefully more wickets than wides.

1st XI – Captain Ncedo Tywaku’s Promotion Push Begins

Skipper Ncedo Tywaku will be leading the charge as the 1st XI set their sights on promotion to 1B. Rumour has it he’s been seen giving motivational speeches in the mirror — and lecturing fielders on the importance of “not dropping regulation catches in the first five overs.”
New signing Reece Segers, fresh off his high-profile transfer from Cape Town CC, will be keen to prove that the club’s biggest-ever signing bonus (a boerie roll and two quartz) was money well spent.

2nd XI – The Island Boys and the Race to the Pub

Jesse Caswell’s 2nd XI will be hunting a big win — not just for points, but for the ultimate prize: being first back to the clubhouse bar. Returning to the side is Russ Garman, back from paternity leave after a year of changing nappies. He’s hoping his line and length will be more consistent than his toddler’s sleep schedule.

3rd XI – Freer at the Helm

Mike Freer takes over as captain of the 3rd XI and is already dreaming of a bonus point victory. His new leadership strategy? Less “team huddle inspiration” and more “win quickly so we can catch the second half of the rugby.”
Veteran all-rounder Wes Henry, now also captaining the Vets XI, will look to bring his T20 fireworks into the longer format — assuming he remembers it’s 35 overs and not 20.

4th XI – Rylands and the 3B Adventure

After their promotion last season, Nabeel Rylands’ 4th XI are stepping up to 3B with confidence, fresh enthusiasm, and one shared pair of batting gloves. Kevin Ward, the club’s resident all-rounder and all-time boundary-hitter, will be out to start the new season the same way he ended the last — taking wickets, smashing sixes, and pretending he’s not sore on Monday morning.
