World Oceans Day - Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet ๐ŸŒ

CapeNature was proud to join the Western Cape Environmental Education Friends (WCEEF) event at the Soetwater Environmental Centre in Kommetjie to celebrate both World Environment Day (5 June) and World Oceans Day (8 June).

The event brought together local school learners for a day of interactive environmental education, highlighting the impacts of climate change on both our land and oceans, and the importance of protecting these ecosystems for future generations.

Through engaging activities, including water bongo, learners explored how their actions can contribute to a more sustainable future. The day also featured educational stations hosted by partner organisations, an exciting puppet show of ocean creatures, and plenty of opportunities for learners to connect with nature.

A heartfelt thank you for the support from Catchment to Coast cluster partners including DEA&DP, Shark Spotters, Guardians of the Deep, the City of Cape Town, the Two Oceans Foundation, Puppet Planet, Nature Connect, and Polyco. Together, we can build a future where our oceans and environment continue to thrive.
