We are excited to share some positive news in the ongoing effort to restore and protect Zeekoevlei.
Zeekoe Vlei Yacht Club recently met with Alderman Andrews, Deputy Mayor of Cape Town, to discuss and plan our partnership with the City of Cape Town in supporting the dredging initiative to save our water body.
We are proud and excited to be working alongside the City of Cape Town towards the betterment of all Cape Town water catchment areas, and to be playing an active role in building a better future for water use in our city.
This is exactly the kind of collaboration and action that Zeekoevlei needs, and we are committed to doing everything we can to see it through. Together, we are making a difference. 💙

Join Alfreds Rowing Club & ZVYC for an unforgettable evening with naturalist and conservation storyteller Dalton Gibbs as he shares the remarkable story of the Cape Flats Erica (Erica verticillata) — once thought extinct, now revived through conservation efforts linked to Zeekoevlei.

📣 Attention Zeekoe Vlei Yacht Club & Alfred Rowing Club Members — Important Meeting This Thursday!
We'd love for you to join us on Thursday, 16 April from 6–7pm on Zoom as we discuss the current state of the club and the next steps regarding the vlei closure.
We'll be hearing from Jeremy Rose, who will provide a dredging update, as well as Pete Willson, who will be sharing a financial update and outlining the committee's planned next steps.

Zeekoe Vlei Yacht Club, together with affected schools and rowing clubs, has issued a formal letter to the City of Cape Town demanding immediate action and transparency on the continued closure of Zeekoevlei.
This vital public resource supports thousands of learners, athletes, and community members; its prolonged closure is unacceptable.
We call for a clear plan to reopen Zeekoevlei and restore access for all.

Paving the Way for the Future of ZVYC

At Zeekoe Vlei Yacht Club, we’re more than just a sailing and rowing hub. We’re a community. A place where children discover the joy of being on the water, families come together to share weekends by the lake, and lifelong friendships are formed.

Now, we have a special project underway — and we need your support.

Why Pave the Trailer Park?

Our trailer park is a vital space where members launch and store their boats. Over time, the ground has become uneven and difficult to maintain. By paving the area, we’ll:
• Create a safer, more accessible space for members and visitors
• Protect and organize our boats and trailers
• Invest in a long-lasting improvement that future generations can enjoy

Our Goal: R70,000

This is what it will take to level the ground, prepare the area, and install durable paving stones. Every rand raised brings us one step closer to making this vision a reality.
