Another important race for the lads today in Cape Town, with valuable Mzansi Nrs points up for grabs. The team rode exceptionally well throughout the day, doing a great job of keeping the race together and setting things up for the sprint finish.

While the final result wasn’t quite what we had hoped for, there were plenty of positives to take away from the race. The effort, commitment, and teamwork shown by the boys were outstanding, and those foundations will continue to pay off as the season progresses.

Racing doesn’t always go your way, but every race is an opportunity to learn, grow, and come back stronger. We’ll take the lessons from today, keep building on the good work, and continue preparing for the challenges ahead.
The motivation is high, the team spirit is strong, and we’re excited for the next opportunity to show what we’re capable of. On to the next one! 💪🚴

Held on Youth Day, this event has become one of the most significant races on the local cycling calendar, attracting some of the country's strongest riders to the streets of Soweto.

The CARtime Nexgen Pro Cycling Team is heading to Cape Town this weekend for the Killarney Raceway Criterium, part of the Mzansi National Road Series, taking place on 14 June 2026 at the iconic Killarney Race Circuit. The event promises fast, tactical racing from start to finish.

🚴‍♂️ Rider Spotlight: Rhys Burrell 🚴‍♂️

Get to know one of the young talents proudly representing CARtime Nexgen Pro Cycling – Rhys Burrell.

Rhys has had a passion for bicycles for as long as he can remember, but it was during his early teenage years, racing mountain bikes, that he truly fell in love with the sport. Since then, cycling has become much more than a hobby – it's a pursuit driven by ambition, dedication, and big dreams.

His ultimate goal? To one day represent his country at the Olympic Games.

When it comes to inspiration, Rhys looks up to Italian powerhouse Filippo Ganna, admiring his strength, versatility, and success on the world stage.

Balancing training with his studies and exams, Rhys keeps his routine simple but effective. Most mornings are spent training with his teammates, often finishing with a well-earned coffee stop, while gym sessions three times a week help build the strength needed to compete at a high level.

Like many South African cyclists, Rhys knows the challenges that come with limited racing opportunities and resources. Despite this, he remains committed to pushing himself and keeping pace with the world's best, making the most of every opportunity available.

When race day approaches, nutrition becomes a key focus. With support from Science in Sport South Africa, Rhys ensures he is properly fuelled and prepared to perform at his best.

And when the tough days arrive? It's the team around him that keeps him motivated.

"The banter, support and camaraderie within the team really help me get through the difficult days."

With his determination, positive attitude and unwavering commitment to improvement, Rhys is a rider with an exciting future ahead.

🚴‍♂️ Rider Spotlight | James Swart 🚴‍♂️

From the moment he could walk, James Swart has been on two wheels. What started as a childhood love for the freedom that cycling provided has grown into a relentless pursuit of excellence and some of the biggest dreams in the sport.

A proud member of the CARtime Nexgen Pro Cycling team, James continues to chase his ambitions of competing at the Olympic Games and one day standing on top of the world as a World Champion. Inspired by the dedication and innovative mindset of professional rider Dan Bigham, James approaches every challenge with determination and a desire to constantly improve.

Balancing life as a competitive cyclist is no easy task. With work commitments filling much of his week, many of James' training sessions take place before sunrise and long after sunset. While the schedule isn't always ideal, his commitment to making every opportunity count is a testament to his character and work ethic. Weekends are reserved for long rides, helping him build the volume needed to keep progressing toward his goals.

Like many athletes, James believes that success is built on more than just training. Nutrition and recovery play a vital role in his routine, and careful meal preparation helps ensure he can maximise both performance and recovery throughout a busy week.

What keeps him moving forward when the days get tough? Simply put, the size of the goals he has set for himself. Those ambitions fuel every early morning, every late-night session, and every sacrifice made along the way.

We are proud to have James representing CARtime Nexgen Pro Cycling and look forward to following his journey as he continues to chase his dreams, one pedal stroke at a time.

🔥 Rider Spotlight | Connor – CARtime Nexgen Academy Rider🔥

From a preschool cycling demo to chasing World Tour dreams — Connor’s journey is built on passion, discipline, and determination. 🚴‍♂️

Connor first fell in love with cycling after a visit from Single Track Minded (STM) back in preschool. What started as excitement from one presentation quickly became a lifelong passion.

When asked who inspires him most in the sport, the answer came easily — legendary sprinter Mark Cavendish. 💪

Balancing school, training, recovery, nutrition, and the sacrifices that come with being a competitive athlete is no easy task, but Connor embraces every challenge with focus and maturity beyond his years.

His weekly routine includes:🏋️ Gym and endurance work⚡ High-intensity interval sessions🚴 Long endurance rides🧘 Recovery and stretching sessions📚 Balancing it all alongside school life

For Connor, nutrition and recovery are just as important as training itself — helping him perform at his best while staying healthy and race-ready.

And when the hard days come?“My biggest motivation is my younger self. I always dreamed of becoming part of the World Tour, and that thought pushes me through my hardest sessions.”

The future is bright for this young rider, and we’re proud to have him representing the CARtime Nexgen Pro Cycling team . 👊🧡
