Apparently nostalgia is cool on ? 💁‍♂️

to when our captain, Ashley Bain, had a pre-game peer into his crystal ball and still had enough time to give us some insight into the future... "We are going to send in our batsmen to put on a mammoth total"...

35 Overs later and we had set a mammoth total of 338-4, with Ashley scoring 144 off 77 himself.

I think we need to do more pre-game live interviews!

So this past weekend saw us kick off our season away at Bergvliet Cricket Club.

If this game is anything to go by, we are in for quite an entertaining season! A truly nail biting and enthralling game of cricket that went down to the last over.

Unfortunately, Bergvliet were able to score the winning runs with 5 wickets and 4 balls to spare. Losing is never desirable however this was a game played in great spirit from both sides right to the very end and I think that both clubs should be really proud to start the season as examples of how the game should be played.

We posted a total of 207-9 off our allocated 35 overs with our top scorers being Daniel Eardley (67 off 54) and Marc Nirenstein (78 off 54).

On the bowling front, our top 2 performers were:
Ashley Bain with figures of 28-2 off 7 overs including a double wicket maiden in the 2nd last over of the game to leave us with a sniff of victory.
Daniel Eardley with figures of 34-2 off 7 overs including a maiden.

Hats off to our boys for a gutsy performance, keep at it and the results will come.

Onwards and upwards.

It felt like the wait was never going to end, but the Western Province Cricket Third Division - A 2017/18 season is finally upon us!

The off season has been a productive one, and tomorrow we will be looking to carry all that positive energy into our season opener away at Bergvliet.
