B's Swim School Swim School for waterproofing babies to young children, stroke correction and water polo players Special needs children are also accommodated.

Based in Bryanston, Johannesburg, B’s Swim School is headed up by ex-South African national water polo player, Brendan Varrie. The school’s ethos is to develop a child’s athletic and aquatic skills in a fun and uncompetitive environment, helping to ensure a lifelong love of the water. We use the US-developed B Swim Safe programme which is designed to teach water safety skills and the ability to sw

im in a very short space of time for children from 6 months up to 8 years of age. We offer a one-on-one programme for infants (6 - 12 months), children (1 – 4 years) and children 4 years and up. On completion of the intensive programmes all children move on to group classes. We offer group classes for infants (with moms and our instructor in the water), kick-float-kick classes for 1 – 4 year olds and strokes and floats group classes for 4 years and older. Our school follows the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model devised by the Canadian sports institute which focuses on late specialisation in order to develop an athlete multilaterally. LTAD is designed to reduce burn-out, increase results, and protect our young athletes. Please be in touch for more information on any of our classes. After 8 weeks we have made such a change in 30 kids lives. Learning how to swim in this short time, these special needs kids have their first gala and show us a different level of grit, energy and the simple happiness of being able to swim.
Mad Swimmer has very kindly donated to the cause we are driving, getting the 400 kids at Nokuthula to swim. Please click on the link and pledge, all these funds will go to the development of these children.
