Less than 100km from Johannesburg is the Bronkhorstspruit Dam Nature Reserve or “Bronkies” as it is known to the locals. The reserve is situated on the southern edge of the dam and, with over 200 species of birds is a great bird watching spot. With plenty of bass beneath the waters, the dam is often frequented by anglers. Those not interested in either bird watching or fishing can enjoy time away

from the bustle of the city by camping or staying in one of the resorts along the banks of the dam and enjoy recreational water sports such as boating and jet skiing.
