IMPORTANT NOTICE

Please be aware that COBRA Self-Defense Academy is the sole licensed self-defense training facility under COBRA Defense International in Brackenfell, currently the only one in Western Cape. The premises of Brackenfell Shotokan Karate Academy are the only authorized training facility recognised by COBRA Defense International.

All COBRA Certified Instructors at COBRA Self-Defense Academy are exclusively authorised to provide self-defense courses and seminars under the umbrella of COBRA Self-Defense Academy. They are not allowed to independently offer COBRA Self-Defense courses or seminars without prior permission or authorisation.

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce and welcome Shukry Sedan who joined COBRA Self-Defense Academy as a COBRA Self-Defense Instructor.

Shukry has been doing karate since 1998 form the age of 10 years old and has been practicing the arts for 24 years running. He is a very experienced karate competitor having won 10 x All Styles National Championships, 1 x gold medallist at Commonwealth karate championship, 5th place at African continental championships 2014, 2018, 2019, competed at 7 World karate championships, 2016 Protea SA National Team captain to Austria world championship making history in Karate South Africa for the first team to ever make it through to the third round of the competition. Was selected as the Western Cape Sportsman of the year in 2014.

He trained kickboxing for 5 years from 2003 until 2008 and place 2nd Western Cape championships, also competed in full contact fights in 2008 where he has won all the fights. He has been trained in traditional Kobudo (Weapons) from 2000 until 2015 in Goju-Ryu karate. He has been teaching karate and specialized sports karate training to various ages for 14 years already.

Qualifications:
Go (5th) Dan Black Belt in Sh*to-Ryu – MB Sh*to-Ryu - 2021
San (3rd) Dan Black Belt in Goju-Ryu including Kobudo (Weapons) – Karate-Zen) - 2015
1st Kyu Brown Belt in Kickboxing
Basic First Aid Level 1

Hi all, I am also now a radio presenter for a local radio station "Jou Stasie" (Your Station in English) for the show Middag Malligheid (Afternoon Madness) from 14:00 - 16:00 (GMT +2). On Thursdays, I do the slot "Wat was die Storie" (What was the Story?), this is about real life crime stories that happened. I will also do a Safety/Security/Self-Defense tip/advise slot after it. Does your Self-Defense Instructor have a structured curriculum and lesson plans or does he/she "wing it"...? Ask him/her to show you their written curriculum manuals and lesson plans for each class you will be attending. If they have none - RUN!

COBRA Self-Defense Academy was awarded to provide an 8-hours Self-Defense course for Word of Mouth, they are the largest online community of local beauticians and fashion sellers. What a great and full energetic group of people it was.
