Harry Kane has denied claims he has refused to train with Tottenham as he continues to be linked with a move away from the club.

Manchester City are said to be trying to sign the striker and it has been reported that he has skipped training with Spurs in an attempt to force the club to sell him.

The England international took to social media to deny those reports, however, insisting he will return to the club on Saturday as was the original plan.

What has been said?

"It's almost 10 years since I made my Spurs debut. For every one of those years, you - the fans - have shown me total support and love," he said.

"That's why it hurts to read some of the comments that have been made this week, questioning my professionalism.

"While I won't go into the specifics of the situation, I want to clarify that I would never, and have never, refused to train. I will be returning o the club tomorrow, as planned.

"I wouldn't do anything to jeopardise the relationship I have with the fans who have given me such unwavering support during my time with the club.

"This has always been the case as it is today."

Jesse Lingard says his loan spell at West Ham felt like "hitting the refresh button", with the rejuvenated midfielder now back at Manchester United as the 2021-22 campaign approaches.

A move to east London was made in January after the 28-year-old playmaker found himself out of favour at Old Trafford and in need of a change of scenery in order to rediscover a spark.

He achieved that with the Hammers, as nine goals were recorded through 16 games, and Lingard is now back in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's thoughts as he looks to make a positive impact again at United.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed the club's interest in Tottenham striker Harry Kane but says Lionel Messi is "not in our thoughts".

City want to add Kane, 28, to England team-mate Jack Grealish, who joined on Thursday in a £100m British record move from Aston Villa.

But they are thought to not be willing to meet Spurs' £160m valuation.

"If Tottenham don't want to negotiate it is finished. We are very interested in him," said Guardiola.

"If they want to negotiate, many clubs would like to sign him, we are not an exception."

England captain Kane - who has scored 221 goals for Spurs and won the Premier League Golden Boot three times - did not turn up for training this week as he tries to engineer a move away.

City have been frequently linked to Messi, who Guardiola worked with at Barcelona and has previously called the greatest player of all time.

Barcelona announced on Thursday that the 34-year-old, their all-time top scorer, is leaving the club because they cannot afford to keep him under La Liga financial fair play rules.

Hours later City confirmed the £100m signing of Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, 25, who will wear the number 10 jersey - the number Messi wears at Barca.

"It was a surprise for everyone, including me," said Guardiola.

"When you lose so much [money] in one year, the decision is made. What happened in the last year is really not good. He's the most extraordinary player I have ever seen in my life.

"Thank you so much for bringing Barca to another level and dominating all the world. I wish him the best.

"We spent on Jack Grealish and he will wear number 10 because we are convinced about him and thought Leo would stay. Now Leo is not in our thoughts."

Guardiola also announced that Bernardo Silva is one of several players who want to leave City this summer.

The 26-year-old Portugal midfielder has scored 35 times in 201 appearances for City since a 2017 move from Monaco.

"Bernardo is our player," he said. "Not just him - two, three or four players want to leave. We're open to discussing absolutely everything. Players want to leave, the door is open."

Matheus Pereira has joined Saudi club Al Hilal on a permanent move from West Brom.

The 25-year-old Brazilian has joined the Saudi Professional League side for an undisclosed fee, the Championship club confirmed on Friday.

"The club wishes Matheus well in his future career," read a club statement.

Pereira arrived at The Hawthorns on loan from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2019 and made his move permanent the following year.

He went on to score 20 goals in two seasons but could not prevent West Brom from being relegated from the Premier League last season.

Pereira publicly stated his desire to leave the club earlier this month, saying he felt "disrespected".
