STRESS AND HORMONES

Hi all.

As promised, I will now share insights on hormones and appetite/cravings. ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿช๐Ÿ”

The increase in cravings/appetite may occur when your body releases powerful hormones in excess, like insulin. The same with dopamine, which is a brain neurotransmitter and acts as a reward centre. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ It promotes feelings of enjoyment, pleasure and even sometimes euphoria. This can lead to cravings for sugar!!!!

STRESS can also cause a spike in blood sugar- which, once again, leads to cravings.

How can you try and manage your cravings then, with all the raging hormones? KEEP YOUR HUNGER AT BAY. It is proposed that you eat BEFORE you get too hungry. Also, donโ€™t always say nay when a craving hits! Rather have a small portion and hit the craving back ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

CRAVINGS, CRAVINGS AND MORE CRAVINGS!!!

Read this if you want to know how to manage your cravings

Did you know that a lack of specific vitamins can cause havoc with your cravings? As mentioned in the December issue of Fitness magazine; cravings usually happen for 3 reasons:

1. Physiological
2. Hormonal
3. Psychological

Physiological- it may be because of a nutrient deficiency. It is suggested that you keep your blood sugar level stable (in order to keep the craving for SUGAR to the minimum). This can be obtained by eating a meal with complex carbohydrates, protein and fat altogether.

Hope this bit of info helps. I will write about nr 2 on the list (hormones) soon.
