True success is to become more human
For me and the work I do with clients, even more important than being productive, effective, to win, to deliver results, is to become more human.
My definition of success is to be deeply human and fully alive. Being human requires inverted priorities such as:
profit over development,
numbers over faces,
certainty over curiosity,
appearance over authenticity,
instructions over conversation,
power over equality,
superiority over humility,
shiny over real,
charm over integrity,
meetings over relationships,
beliefs over critical thinking,
answers over questions,
heaven over earth….
We should ask: Are we becoming more loving, honest, compassionate, psychologically whole, capable of uncertainty, comfortable in our own skin, present to one another, and able to inhabit reality as it is?
Do our intentions and actions deepen humanity, express love, trust, truth, beauty and goodness?
For this is foundational for human flourishment, whether individual actualisation, healthy community, peak performances, achievement, results and profit.
The journey I, and on which I guide me co-travellers, is towards becoming more mature – deeply human and fully alive.
And what a journey it is.
