Some moments remind us that the journey to a start line is never walked, or run, alone. ❤️

Last night’s send-off for Gerhard and Joanné was one of those moments. From the kilometres shared to the hugs, good luck wishes and familiar faces who simply came to show their support, it was a powerful reminder of just how special this community is.

As they head to Nice for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, they’ll be carrying a little piece of Bloemfontein with them. 🇿🇦

To everyone who showed up, supported, encouraged and helped make the evening what it was: thank you. This journey may belong to two athletes, but there are so many people standing behind them.

Go make it count, Gerhard and Joanné. We’re incredibly proud to be in your corner. 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

What’s left is the good part. Race kit laid out, final checks, and then this weekend we leave Bloemfontein and set course for Nice, France.

Before Gerhard and Joanné leave for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice, we're running them out the Bloemfontein way.

📍 Ocean Basket Langenhovenpark�🕠 17:30 for 18:00, we start 18:00 sharp�👟 An easy under 5 km run together�🍻 Then everyone joins for drinks at Ocean Basket

Long before Ultra 360 had an online store, people in Bloemfontein already knew where to go when they needed advice on running shoes or adventure gear.

Gerhard started small and became one of the first people in Bloemfontein to sell On Cloud shoes. From there, the store grew into what Ultra 360 is today, stocking respected running, trail, triathlon and outdoor brands.

But the real reason people kept coming back was never only the products. It was the advice. And the advice was good for a simple reason: Gerhard is a sportsman before he is a salesman. He has put in the kilometres in the kind of gear he sells, so he knows how a shoe feels once the distance adds up, what you really need out on a trail and, sometimes, why the product you came in for is not the right one for you. Runners trusted him because he had been where they were going.

When we created the Ultra 360 website, we wanted to take that beyond Bloemfontein.

Runners across South Africa can now browse road and trail shoes, hiking gear, apparel, accessories and nutrition, with R150 shipping anywhere in the country. But an order online is not the end of the conversation. The Ultra 360 team is still a phone call away to guide, advise and make sure you end up with what is right for you.

For us, that was the important part of this project. Taking something personal and community-driven and making it work online without losing what made it special in the first place.
