NBC Sports Network Is Shutting Down By the End of the Year
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR LIVE COVERAGE OF THE TOUR DE FRANCE?

NBCUniversal plans to shut down NBC Sports Network, which is the home of the Tour de France, by the end of the year, according to Sports Business Daily.
High-profile sports, such as NHL and NASCAR will move to USA Network.
NBCSN will stay around through the end of the Olympics, which—as of now—are still expected to happen this year.

2021 Cape Town Cycle Tour Postponed.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 Cape Town Cycle Tour has been postponed to later this year.

The Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust has thus taken the decision to postpone the hosting of the 2021 edition of the event to a later date in the year. The organisers will continue to explore all available options and opportunities that remain open, in terms of hosting a safe and memorable Cape Town Cycle Tour.

SAM BENNETT AND TADEJ POGACAR CROWN IT ALL

Sam Bennett claimed a well-deserved stage win in front of world champion Mads Pedersen and mega-star Peter Sagan on the Champs-Elysées in Paris, after he imposed himself in prestigious cities like Rome, Dubai and Istanbul at the end of other national Tours. The last winner of the conclusive stage with the green jersey was Mark Cavendish in 2011. Tadej Pogacar won his first Tour de France as well as the King of the Mountains competition and the best young rider prize.

POGACAR WINS ITT AND TAKES THE YELLOW JERSEY

Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) rode to Tour de France overall victory at the age of 21 as he smashed all his rivals for winning the individual time trial to La Planche des belles filles, including Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) who was touted as the eventual winner of the 107th edition. Tom Dumoulin (Jumbo-Visma) and Richie Porte (Trek-Segafredo) rounded out the stage podium, meaning a move to the final podium as well for the latter.

Tour de France 2020 Stage 17: Grenoble > Méribel Col de la Loze - 170km

Miguel Angel “Superman” Lopez claimed the queen stage of the 107th Tour atop the gruelling and spectacular col de la Loze after he overhauled his old arch-rival Richard Carapaz who had tried his luck from a long way away. The battle of the Slovenians for the overall victory confirmed Primoz Roglic in the yellow jersey as he crossed the line in second place with a significant advantage over Tadej Pogacar who is the new King of the Mountains.

TADEJ POGAČAR DOES IT AGAIN

Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) claimed his second mountain stage victory in another 1-2 for Slovenia atop the Grand Colombier. Defending champion Egan Bernal (Ineos) said goodbye to his ambitions of a double up meanwhile Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) extended his overall lead to all his rivals except for his compatriot who is definitely the best young rider of this Tour de France.

KRAGH ANDERSEN TAKES HIS CHANCE

Soren Kragh Andersen became the first Danish stage winner of the Tour since Magnus Cort two years ago. He also delivered Team Sunweb their second stage victory after Marc Hirschi on stage 12. Tiesj Benoot paved the way for his attack at the 3km to go mark. It’s the first Tour de France stage victory for the 26 year old winner of the 2018 Paris-Tours.

SAM BENNETT COMPLETES HIS GRAND TOUR TRILOGY
Sam Bennett of Deceuninck-Quick Step won stage 10 in a bunch gallop on the scenic Ré island that hosted the Tour de France for the first time. Also coming from an island, the Irishman found himself at ease to use the elements including the three-quarter head wind to fend off Caleb Ewan, the fast man from the island-continent Australia. Bagging his first Tour de France win after imposing himself at the Giro d’Italia and La Vuelta, he also took over the green jersey from Peter Sagan who crossed the line in third place while Primoz Roglic retained the yellow jersey.

STAGE 9 TO POGACAR, LEAD TO ROGLIC: SLOVENIA TAKES IT ALL

Tadej Pogacar won his first Tour de France stage out of a 5-man breakaway after brave attacker Marc Hirschi who soloed 90km before the end got caught within 2km to go. He was the second Slovenian to win in Laruns in just as many finishes in the Pyrenean town, two years after Primoz Roglic who moved into the overall lead of the Tour de France for the first time in his career. Adam Yates surrendered in the ascent to col de Marie-Blanque.
