Congratulations to Joy van der Westhuizen, who has been selected for inclusion in the Western Cape Aquatics Provincial Open Water 3km Swimming Distance Squad for 2020/2021

Furthermore, she was awarded a certificate of achievement in swimming (Level 2) for the 2019-2020 season. At the last Cape Town Aquatics Championship Gala she came within 1,28 seconds of achieving Level 3 in her 100m freestyle race, in a time of 1:16,59. She qualified for the Level 2 Regional Championship gala where she had high hopes of progressing to Level 3. However due to all regional and national swimming competitions being cancelled due to the National Lockdown, she was unable to attain her goal.

Joy has proven that hard work, tenacity, perseverance and commitment to her sport certainly pays off.
Well done Joy, we are super proud of your achievements.
