We are now less than a month away from the 2026 Berg River Canoe Marathon and your chance to prove that you have what it takes to complete South Africa's toughest river race.

The winter weather in the Western Cape has set in, and the cold fronts are rolling through – bringing chilly weather and the rain that will be creating ideal conditions for paddlers to enjoy their paddle from Paarl to Velddrif on July 15-18.

This past week saw the approval of the final design for the free official race shirt which means you now know what you can wear to prove you took part in The Ultimate Canoe Race.

This week (midnight, Sunday) the extended deadline for early bird entries closes, so if you want to be part of the action AND want the shirt as proof, enter now.

What a fantastic weekend at the PSG Flatwater Marathon Champs at Longmere Dam, White River! From road-trip adventures, trailer duty, and fuel stops at ALZU, to great weather, good vibes, and even better paddling — it was a weekend to remember.

A huge thank you to the team at Lowveld Canoe Club for being incredible hosts and for the awesome organisation of the event. The goody bags were a wonderful touch, and your hospitality made us feel right at home.

Great people, great racing, and great memories. Until the next adventure! 🚐🚣‍♀️🏅

If you know of anyone who might be able to assist... Have an old one gathering dust etc. please reach out to Owl Rescue Centre.

Does anyone have an old kayak gathering dust that they’d like to donate? We had a fantastic one donated a few years ago, but unfortunately, it was lost during a rescue on the flooded Vaal River.
While our rescue rubber duck is great, many of our river missions are only accessible by kayak. If you have one you're no longer using, it would be put to very good use!😉

Just as the guppies went out for race start, we had a gentle drizzle and off they went.. as soon as the official "paddles up - go" command was given the sun came out. Some great individual shots in the portage.
