I came across an interesting urban design idea from France where recycled plastic is used to create roadside flower barriers 🌸🚧.

These barriers help protect plants by separating them from traffic and pedestrian movement, allowing greenery to grow with less damage 🌿. They are also durable, weather-resistant, and low maintenance, making them suitable for long-term outdoor use ♻️🌍.

What makes this idea inspiring is how it transforms waste material into something useful and visually appealing, improving both function and appearance in urban streets 🌱✨.

🎡 Inclusive Design Inspiration — We-Go-Round® 🌍♿

I came across the We-Go-Round® inclusive merry-go-round by Landscape Structures Inc. while exploring ideas for public space design 🌿.

What stood out is how it allows children of all abilities, including wheelchair users, to play together in the same space ♿✨. It removes barriers through smooth access, shared seating space, and thoughtful design features like shade and themed panels 🎡🌈.

This design inspired me because it shows how landscape architecture can go beyond aesthetics and function to create spaces that promote inclusion, interaction, and equal access for everyone 🌍🌿.

It’s a strong reminder that good public space design should make sure no one is left out of the experience of play and community 🏙️✨.

🌸 IDS Final Project — Concept Design Development 🌿📐

I’ve started developing my concept design for my final IDS Project 3 assignment 🏙️✨.

My design is inspired by the pink protea petals 🌸, which influenced the early shaping and form exploration of my rooftop garden concept. I began by sketching and drafting simple abstract shapes, focusing on how the natural form of the petals can translate into spatial design and movement 🌿✏️.

At this stage, I am still exploring ideas and testing different compositions to see how the concept can evolve into a functional rooftop space. It’s all about understanding form, flow, and how nature can guide design decisions 🌱📐.

This is just the beginning of my concept development, but it’s exciting to start seeing the idea take shape and connect back to nature and local identity 🌍✨.

🌿 Design Inspiration — Green Amphitheatre Stairs 🌱🏛️

While researching precedents for our IDS project, I came across a post by World Landscape Architecture that really inspired me 🌍📐.

The design is a type of amphitheatre made up of stepped seating, where each level is integrated with planting spaces 🌿. Instead of being just hard concrete stairs, the structure is softened with greenery placed between and around the steps, creating a calm, natural, and inviting public space 🌱✨.

What stood out to me is how simple elements like stairs can be transformed into a landscape feature that supports both social interaction and nature 🌍. The combination of seating, circulation, and planting makes the space feel alive, comfortable, and visually beautiful.

This inspired me to think differently about how circulation spaces in my own rooftop garden project can also become green, functional, and interactive environments 🌿🏙️.
