Caring for the wild, together🐾

Our Boschpoort Safaris guides were hard at work today across the Mabalingwe Reserve, distributing parasite game blocks as part of an important wildlife management initiative.

This project forms part of the Ludum Game Consortium effort — a company created by the Mabalingwe game owners to responsibly manage and protect the reserve’s wildlife.

The parasite blocks contain ivermectin and are strategically placed throughout the reserve to help control both internal and external parasites in free-roaming animals, supporting their health and overall wellbeing.

A big thank you to everyone involved in keeping Mabalingwe’s wildlife healthy and thriving.🦒🌿

Mabalingwe Game Reserve is looking for a qualified and professional Field Guide to join our team. We are seeking a motivated individual with strong guiding skills and a passion for wildlife and guest experience.

Minimum Requirements:
* CATHSSETA Nature Site Guide (NQF2 or higher) and/or valid FGASA qualification
* PH (Professional Hunter) certificate for Limpopo
* Valid driver’s licence
* Valid PrDP
* Valid first Aid certificate
* Excellent communication and guest interaction skills
* Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and public holidays • Snake catching or handling certificate • Rifle competency • Reasonable fitness (for walking and outdoor work)

Beneficial
• Valid Code 10 driver’s licence
• Own transport

While camouflage helps, these reptiles mostly shift their hues to communicate and express their mood. They brighten up to show dominance, attract mates, or signal breeding readiness, and darken when stressed or defending their territory.

Temperature control is another major reason: darker shades help them absorb heat while lighter tones reflect it to stay cool.⛅️

They're less about blending in and more about expressing themselves, regulating their body temperature, and having conversations.
