“A hearty congratulations on an exceptional set of results this weekend! PB's fell, limits were tested, friendships were made, and the strength of your fighting spirit shone bright for all to admire. Well done to each and every runner that tackled the 96th running of the Comrades Marathon.
Jeppe as a club had a finishers rate of 98%, materially better than the overall field rate of 93% and up from our 2022 outcome of 92%. This speaks to the level of preparedness of our runners, the hard work they put in during the training block and the intelligent running that was displayed on race day. Unsurprisingly, our club medal split improved
and our average finishing time was the fastest it’s been in a decade. Congratulations to each and every one
of you on these incredible performances!
Special mention goes to Justin Brink for bringing Jeppe home in a fast 6:27:39, Kirsten Nolan for being Jeppe's First Lady silver since Lynn da Silva's magical
7:29:17 in 1999, and to Yvonne Laing for her 5th place category finish.
Finally, I think we can all agree that the support on route this year was absolutely incredible, but in particular our Jeppe family that manned the
seconding tables were instrumental in our success. It's hard to overstate how fortunate we are to have volunteers who choose to dedicate their time and energy to the Jeppe runners, many of whom they have never met. This is what makes Jeppe so special as a running club and it shows in the strength of our numbers. Thank you to each and every one of these special human beings.
It's now time to rest, reflect and recalibrate...we have big things planned for the new running season!”
