Congratulations to our two master athletes, Margo Snyders and Tanja Juries, who proudly represented us earlier this month at the SAMA Championships in Germiston.

Tanja Juries competed in five events, while Margo Snyders took part in the throwing events, with both athletes delivering outstanding performances and achieving excellent results.

As Velocity, we are incredibly proud of your dedication, hard work, and commitment. Thank you for representing the club with such passion and determination. Well done to both of you!

Today we supported the Atlantis Secondary School Walkathon 5km event. Our hearts were still heavy, but our resolve was firm. We stood in solidarity with the family of Dayna-Lee Coetzee—a young life tragically stolen by the senseless violence that plagues our community's streets. To Dayna's family: we mourn with you, and we honour her memory by demanding better for our children.
Our stance is clear: we strongly condemn gangsterism and violence in all its forms. Every individual and organisation carries a weight of responsibility. Our children deserve to feel safe; they deserve a future. We are committed to restoring trust, rebuilding our spirit, and reuniting our communities. This is not just a moment—it is our ongoing mission.

This young man's story deserves to be told. Just three weeks ago, Nieuwon faced serious challenges that would have stopped most people in their tracks. But he stepped onto that track with confidence, maturity, and the heart of a champion—and he RAN. He didn't just finish; he became the WPA Senior Champion in the 400m hurdles with a race that showed wisdom, strength, and composure far beyond his years. Nieuwon, we are SO proud of you! 🙌🔥

We proudly introduce Tereske George, known on the pitch by her powerful alias, Kabuika Ilunga—a name that means "A Peace Warrior who brings people together." This name truly embodies her spirit and her unifying presence both on and off the field.

Tereske's journey is a testament to extraordinary commitment and versatility:

A Foundation of Excellence: Tereske has been trained and developed by Velocity Athletic since the age of 11, cultivating a competitive spirit across multiple codes, including Athletics and Netball, before recently dedicating herself to Rugby.

Rising Through the Ranks: She is currently honing her skills at the rigorous Hermanus High Performance Centre training camp. Her recent performance with Mamre Female Rugby led to a prestigious selection onto the Boland Rugby Federation U20 Women's Week Tournament at Queens College, Gauteng

The Elite Opportunity: Her outstanding play was further recognized by a significant invitation to the South African Girls U19 Elite Player Development (EPD) Camp. This is a life-changing opportunity that places her on the national pathway.

Congratulations are due to our female athletes for their strong performances this morning in Gugulethu 10km event. Lee-Shay achieved 4th place in the Senior Women's event, while Sinbongile, our newest female athlete, secured 11th position. Malicka earned 2nd place in the Junior category, and Shante Fredericks is to be congratulated on completing her first 10km race and taking 3rd place in the Junior category. Although the team prize eluded them on this occasion, we look forward to their future achievements.
