It was a gorgeous weekend throughout the Northwest, and our athletes took advantage of it and raced hard!
Or as hard as their donkeys would let them! In Arizona, Jenn did the Tombstone Donkey Dash! She was assigned a donkey, Sorpressa, and had to get herself and Sorpressa to the finish line. Somehow she managed third despite Sorpressa not always being the most willing participant!
In Washington, Abbey had a solid run at the Spokane River Run 50k! She recently ran the Siuslaw Dunes 50k and wanted to beat her time from there, which she did with relative ease and enjoyed the different nature of the course.
In Montana, Mike, Gavin, Staci, and Josi all ran the Bitterroot Runoff. Despite not feeling great to start, Mike stayed strong in the 10 mile and set a course PR for himself! Gavin also ran the 10 mile and bested his time from 2022 and felt good throughout the race. Staci ran the 5 mile for the second year in a row and managed to beat her prior time by 2 seconds!! Josi also ran the 5 mile as her FIRST EVER TRAIL RACE and finished 5th!! Congrats, Josi!
Meanwhile, Quirk was on the other side of the country running the Boston Marathon. He wanted to set a new marathon PR, which he did in 2:49:03! Quirk is building up to his first 100 mile and Boston was a significant step along the way.
Congrats everyone on an incredible weekend!

It was a big weekend for ARG athletes as trail season is truly underway!
We had a number of athletes compete at Gorge Waterfalls in northern Oregon. Madalyn lined up in the 30k for a battle of speed, and walked away in the top 20 in a very strong field. She's run the 100k there before, but it was a different experience covering the same trails faster!
Adam ran the 100k and crushed it with a massive negative split! He learned a lot out there, with the biggest lesson that he can run faster!
Eliot, Megan, and Jay all ran the 50k on Sunday and each had a day out there! Eliot blew his goal time out of the water and ended up winning his age group as the first 50+ year old across the line. Megan returned to racing after a few months off, and unfortunately rolled her ankle early in the day. She managed to refocus though, and work her way back up into the top 30. Jay didn't get much of a taper as normal since he will be lining up for Mingus Traverse in a couple weeks. But this was a fantastic last long run for him and we're excited to see what he can do in Arizona.
What we love seeing is that everyone at Gorge moved up through the field the entire day!
Meanwhile, in Utah, Abby attempted her first 100k at the Zion 100k. She made it 50k before it became medically necessary to stop due to stomach issues. Up until then though she ran super tough, problem solved her way through a rough situation, and still PR'd in a 50k! She will be back!
In Washington farther up the Columbia river, Drew ran the Ancient Lakes 25k. He took it out a bit hot, reset, and rallied for the last loop, which we love to see. But he also was able to look around and appreciate the unique landscape. Which is a major reason we love trail running!
Great work out there everyone, more exciting things to come!

ARG athlete Stacy has been working hard all winter to train for a ladies trip in Tucson. 🌵 She just got back and had a wonderful time! We are so excited that Stacy was strong enough to enjoy the trails, although we think she mostly enjoyed not having to shovel snow in -8 degree weather. Congrats on a fun weekend, Stacy!

It was a big weekend of racing for ARG athlete Abbey and Coach Ella this weekend!.
In Oregon, .fes ran the unique Siuslaw Dunes 50k! This has to be the sandiest 50k out there with many miles on the beach, deep sandy trails, and deeper sand dunes! Plus a creek you have to ford with SUP's!! Despite the tough terrain, Abbey cruised her way to a top 10 finish, and beat her goal time by over an hour! 🤯
In Montana, Coach finished off her race season at the Yellowstone Rendezvous 50k. Not only did she crush the pacing and nutrition, but she finished on the podium in 3rd! Ella was looking for redemption after a tough race last year and more than earned it.
Congrats Abbey and Ella!

Racing season is starting up for our ARG athletes!
In Nevada, Nicole ran the Rock 'n' Roll Vegas Half Marathon along the Las Vegas strip and completely crushed her race! Nicole was aiming for a 2:00 finish time, missed by a mere 6 seconds, but also ran over a 19 minute PR!!! What a huge day for Nicole!
In California, Quirk WON the Impact 5k! He came in with tired legs after a long run the day before, but worked through it to cross the finish line first, and in fine 1980's style (keeping with the race theme). Quirk is building to the Boston Marathon so keep an eye out for him there.
In Montana, Gavin finished out his ski season at the Great Divide Skimo race. Gavin's been racing on a touring set up all season, but this race got him excited enough to look for lightweight gear for next year! Look out world!
Congrats Nicole, Quick, and Gavin on a great weekend!

What a weekend on Mount Sentinel in Missoula for ARG athletes!
Mike ran the inaugural Missoula 24 hour , which was also the longest (by far) event he's ever attempted. It may have been his first overnight event, but he sure ran it like a veteran! Mike worked through a few low spots, but still hit his goal of 16 laps, totalling 30,000' of climbing in 70 miles 🤯
jumped in the 3 hour event on Mount Sentinel, despite being in the thick of tax season. She threw down three laps for neatly 6000' of climbing, then went back to the grindstone making sure our taxes are accurate. Even after three laps Kim still looked like she had just started and was clearly ready to put in more laps.
competed in the 12 hour event and kept crushing laps, even after he said his legs were hurting on the downhills (didn't matter, we still saw him descending smoothly two laps later). Joran put in 8 laps for 15000' of climbing in 36 miles.

Huge day for ARG athletes, great work!

Your ski fitness doesn't have to melt with it, but here's the thing: your cardiovascular engine is ready for trail running even though your bones and connective tissue aren't. Although you've been crushing long ski days, start with SHORT runs (20-30 min) integrated into your ski week for the next few weeks. Your heart can handle more than your shins can right now!
Our coaches can help you make the transition from strong skiing to healthy running! Schedule a free consult call today!
