There’s something different about seeing your brand in a retail space.
For so much of building Avid Swim, I’m seeing the brand through a screen; designing, reviewing samples, working on the website, looking at orders, planning what comes next.
Martha’s Vineyard gave me a chance to step outside of that and actually watch people experience Avid in person.
They could touch the pieces. Try them on. See the prints and fabrics up close. Style the resortwear with the swim. And most importantly, I could see what they naturally gravitated toward without having to explain it.
We sold through pieces while we were there, but what I took home was bigger than that.
It gave me a better understanding of where Avid fits in retail and how our customer sees us when the full world of the brand is in front of her.
As I continue working toward expanding our retail partnerships, experiences like this are helping me understand what Avid needs to look like on the rack.
Martha’s Vineyard was a good reminder that sometimes you have to put the product in the room and watch what happens.
More to come.
