We very much appreciate the help we get from the County Show and this networking group. There’s lots of new legislation coming up that we need to comply with for . If you have experience of events, health and safety, the purple guide, safeguarding etc. we’d love a few hours of your time to help us implement some changes.

Premiered at in 2025, The Wylam Song Cycle is a musical celebration of our village and its remarkable contribution to the origins of the railway.

In 2025, communities across the UK are marking 200 years since Wylam’s own George Stephenson changed the course of history. His pioneering engine, Locomotion No. 1, pulled the first passenger train along the Stockton to Darlington Railway — an event widely regarded as the birth of the modern railway.

Wylam has a proud heritage as the home of influential railway engineers such as Timothy Hackworth and George Hedley, and lays claim to having the world’s oldest station still in continuous use.

The Wylam Song Cycle was written and performed by singer-songwriters Gareth Davies-Jones and Bronwen Davies-Jones, arranged by Simon Davies-Fidler, and performed with

Thank you to Tyne Valley Woodlands for their advice and work on our Field, we have a lot of trees and hedgerows to manage. We’ve just cleared these Ash trees as they were suffering from Ash Dieback. They were planted in memory of Wylam cricketer Alan Jones. We’ll be replacing with suitable saplings.

We took advantage of a few days of spring sunshine to get the first cut of the field yesterday. It smells and looks amazing!

We need a couple more volunteers to help with grass cutting. You need to be 18+ and comfortable with driving the tractor and following our safety protocols. Send us a message if that’s you!

**We need your help**
We're struggling with anti-social behaviour on the Field. We've been advised by the police to report every occurence - 999 where anyone might be in danger, 101 if not. You can also use https://www.northumbria.police.uk/ro/report/ocr/af/how-to-report-a-crime/ which is helpful if you have any photographs. It does make a difference to how they prioritise their presence and to identify patterns of behavious. Please put your own safety first.
