After three marathons in one year, nonstop training left her mentally and physically burned out. Four months away from running brought an unexpected feeling: seeing others out on the road made her miss it—and inspired her to lace up again.

🏃‍♂️🔥 100 MILES A WEEK. THREE HARD WORKOUTS. 20-MILE LONG RUNS. AND THEN… NO RACE.

🎙️ NEW DFW RUNNING TALK EPISODE IS OUT NOW!

This week, I sit down with Emmanuel Amadi to talk about his incredible journey from basketball and bodybuilding to running a 2:39 marathon—and chasing a sub-2:30.

But this conversation isn’t just about running fast.

It’s about what happens when you push too hard, deal with injuries, make mistakes, and learn that more training doesn’t always mean better training.

We get into:
🏃 Running 100 miles a week in the Texas heat
💥 Injuries, setbacks, and overtraining
⏱️ Marathon pacing mistakes and hard lessons
💪 The importance of coaching and recovery
🎯 What it really takes to chase big goals

One thing Emmanuel said really stuck with me:

“It takes what it takes.”

Whether you’re training for your first 5K, chasing a Boston qualifier, or trying to break your next PR, there’s something in this conversation for you.

It might sound counterintuitive, but I found myself setting new personal records for 2-mile, 5K, and even half-marathon distances all during my longest training runs. It's a pretty cool way to push limits.

He was 235 pounds and couldn't run a mile. Then, during COVID, he woke up and decided it was time for a serious change. With a newborn at home, he found inspiration in running, transforming his life and health. Now, he's running marathons while others struggle with just a few miles. Truly amazing.
