Well that was worth waiting 20 years for. Following three well contested losses against Wilston Grange, it was all about the 20th Anniversary celebrations.
As soon as we saw the 140 past and present players, members and partners arriving in the clubrooms we could feel the excitement.
MC Dave Farrell introduced current Supercats President Riki Kerr for his opening speech.
The 1st Qtr (2006-2011) panel of Birchy, Keasy, Jeff Jones and Douls reminisced on how it all started with hilarious memories of the early years.
Bugsy then announced the backs in the 20 year Dream Team - Brett Jones, Scott Coombs, Brendan Long, Steven Boehme, Rowan Johnson and Grant Reynolds.
The 2nd Qtr panel (2012-2016) of Bandit, Toohs, Nugget and Hatchie got the crowd up and about with passionate banter but nothing could stop NUGE bringing the topic back to himself.
Tea Bag was awarded the 20 year HTFU award for his infamous shoe effort and Bugsy announced the Dream Team centreline of Andrew Wise, Glen Edwards and Stephen Toohey.
After the half time break, the well fed and lubricated crowd was entertained with the 3rd Qtr (2017- 2021) panel of Horse, Dave Nelson, Dean Wallington and Boehmy, after which Bugsy announced the Dream Team forward line of Mark McAllister, Ben Sargood, Kel Donovan, Patrick Mulholland, Glen Nugent and James Perejmibida.
The 4th Qtr (2022-26) panel featured Nick Mitchell, Bec Goodwin, Brian Judge and Ben Litterick
Despite it becoming clear Bugsy missed out on food but made up for it with Proseccos (for which he was awarded Best Off Ground for the night) he managed to announce the Dream Team followers as Neil McIntosh, Lauren Blake, Craig Richardson, interchange Matthew Hatchard, Craig Caire, Justin McCallion and Sean Barrett. Head coach was Steven Boehme and assistant coach Glenn Nugent (Nuge).
The formalities closed with a very passionate and emotion filled It's a Grand Old Flag team song.
