Whites Pharmacy Castle Rangers 2 – 0 Nurney Villa

Castle Rangers made an explosive start to their clash with Nurney Villa, stunning the visitors with a goal inside just two minutes. A dazzling sequence of five slick one-touch passes sliced through the heart of midfield, culminating in Luke Brennan being played clean through on goal. With composure beyond his years, Brennan rounded the keeper and calmly slotted home to give the hosts an early lead.

Despite the early setback, Nurney responded with sustained possession and pressure in midfield. However, they found themselves repeatedly frustrated by the rock-solid defensive pairing of Stephen Preston and Matthew O'Donovan, who were immovable at the back. Castle Rangers held firm and went into the break with a slender but deserved 1-0 advantage.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Nurney probing but lacking the cutting edge to truly test the Rangers' backline. The decisive moment came in the 73rd minute when Aaron Bowden surged down the flank and into the penalty area. A mistimed sliding challenge from a Nurney defender brought him down, leaving the referee with little choice but to point to the spot.

Kyle O'Brien stepped up with ice in his veins and dispatched the penalty with precision into the side netting, doubling Castle’s lead and effectively sealing the result. The final whistle confirmed a well-earned victory for the home side, who combined early attacking flair with disciplined defending.

Standout performances for Castle Rangers came from Jake Snoddy, Matthew O'Donovan, Aaron Corless, and Will Long, all of whom played pivotal roles in a confident team display.

Castle Rangers FC 1 - 0 Wolfhill Athletic FC

Castle Rangers secured a gritty home victory over newly promoted Wolfhill Athletic, clinching all three points in a tightly contested affair.

The hosts nearly broke the deadlock just six minutes in when Luke Bailey latched onto a flicked throw-in at the back post. He controlled the ball superbly and unleashed a volley that rattled the woodwork. Moments later, Castle thought they had taken the lead, only for the goal to be ruled offside.

Wolfhill responded with their best chance of the half around the 25-minute mark, but Castle’s keeper Adam Duggan was alert, diving low to smother the effort. The first half ended goalless, with both sides showing flashes of promise.

The second half saw a more balanced contest. Castle suffered a setback with two midfielders forced off through injury, but substitutes kept the momentum alive. On 58 minutes, Wolfhill came agonizingly close when their winger turned sharply outside the box and fired a rocket toward the top corner. Duggan produced a sensational save, leaping across goal to tip the ball wide with his fingertips.

Buoyed by their keeper’s heroics, Castle began to press harder. Craig Bowden and Mark O'Brien led the charge, carving out chances as the pressure mounted. The breakthrough finally came in the 82nd minute: Luke Bailey delivered a curling free kick that evaded the Wolfhill keeper, finding Kyle O'Brien, who cushioned a header into the top corner to seal the win.

Standout performers for Castle Rangers included Adam Duggan, Matthew O'Donovan, Dylan Salter, and Luke Bailey.
