After a 15 week regular season schedule, the Peterborough Table Hockey Association dropped the puck for Championship Sunday XVIII at The Honkeytonk on April 12th. Thank you again to everyone for another successful season. The playoffs as always produced some very good series and after a full day of action the PTHA would like to congratulate Josh Kloosterman in winning the "A" Championship and Isaya Kloosterman going 18-9 to take the "B" Championship. This would be the first father/son sweep of the playoffs in PTHA history and make Isaya the youngest player to have his name engraved on a PTHA trophy. His play steadily improved as the season progressed and he played well on Sunday and was our 2026 Rookie of the Year. The leagues average age dropped a little this year with the addition of Mike's sons, Alex and Aidan Vandermelen as well as Phil Ceccarelli and his son Rocco. They all carried themselves like pros and it was a pleasure to have them. Kids are fast, lol. Congratulations also to our "A" and "B" finalists, Chad Maker and Heather Holdcroft. As well as another successful regular season and playoffs, the league was pleased to once again join forces with the Kawartha Komets in raising funds for their hockey program. We plan on working together in the future and hope to see you at our next fundraising event. The league continues to evolve and change and we look forward to the adventure that next season brings. We hope to see the old faces, as well as some new ones.

Tuesday April 7th saw 9 players under the lights at the Honkeytonk in Week #15 play to finish up our regular season schedule and set the playoff pairings as we look forward to Championship Sunday XVII on April 12th. The PTHA would like to say thank you to the 18 players who took the time to play and know that it was appreciated and added to another great season of table hockey. We congratulate our 12 playoff qualifiers and wish them the best as they set out to get their name engraved on the Championship trophy.

Week #12 of the PTHA season had 11 players ready to drop the puck on another evening of table hockey action. Josh Kloosterman led the way, going 10-2-0 with a couple of losses to 4th place finisher Bill Holdcroft (7-4-1). Isaya Kloosterman finished in second place with a solid 9-2-1 record that included wins over Phil, Heather and Steve. Phil Ceccarelli went 7-3-2 to finish in third for the evening. It was a good time of fathers/sons/daughter/brothers and friends and we look forward to our last two events of the season before Championship Sunday XVIII on April 12th.

The PTHA would like to take a moment to put the spotlight on Heather Holdcroft, today being International Women's Day. She is our 2022/23 "B" Champion. A solid competitor like her Dad, you know your in for a battle every game against her.

Week #11 of the PTHA season saw the welcome return of defending "B" Champion Andrew Anker who went 8-3-1 to finish in 2nd, behind first place finisher Bill Holdcroft who went 10-0-2. Player of the day was Mike Vandermelen who earned a couple of ties in his 6 rounds with Bill. Want to take a moment to thank Mike and Bill for their efforts in making the Komets fundraiser on February 28th run so smoothly and congratulate Aidan and Alex Vandermelen who both finished with 7-1 records in round robin play. Aiden had a 3-2 OT loss to Eric Potipco in quarter final playoff action and Alex lost 3-2 to Josh McImoyle in semi final play. They represented the PTHA well. With three League dates left on the schedule were hoping to get Chad, Phil, Alex, Aidan and Rocco qualified for Championship Sunday on April 12th. Our next date is Tuesday, March 10th with a 6:00pm puck drop.

The Peterborough Table Hockey Association joined forces with the Kawartha Komets and the charity tournament was nothing but a success. The efforts of a dedicated group of people came together and a good day was had by all. Thanks to everyone for contributing to a great day.

Week #10 was a six player event that had Jesse Parrington top the standings with some solid play, finishing the day with 17pts. Congratulations Jesse. Second place finisher Bill Holdcroft had a strong day, going 5-4 in a nine game series with Josh Kloosterman. With the unbalanced schedule and the best playing the best , this was another good one. Josh won game #1 by a score of 2-1. Bill then knocked off five straight wins with scores of 8-5, 5-3, 2-1, 7-4, 7-4. Game seven saw Josh rebound with a 3-1 win. Josh took game #8 with a 7-4 win and finished up the series with a lower scoring 5-4 win. These two gentlemen have combined for over 4500 games played in the Peterborough Table Hockey Association and their play today showed it. Player of the week goes to Isaya Kloosterman. With 72 games played, Sunday saw some of his best play. His strong late game efforts that just fell short in his games with Heather were testament to his perserverance. He earned a 3-3 tie in a four game series with Jesse and split a four game series with Steve. The best of all was putting 7 goals by Bill in a 10-7 loss. Next League action will be Sunday, March 1st with a 1:00pm puck drop.
