Yorke Peninsula Polocrosse Club Polocrosse Club located in Minlaton SA * Saturday nights under lights*Runs from Sep-Nov & Jan-Apr *

Polocrosse was first introduced to the Yorke Peninsula in 1950, after Gerald Honner saw a match played while on holidays. A small but enthusiastic group of horsemen spent the next 12 months practicing, before in 1951 a meeting was held in the back of a Ute and the Yorke Peninsula Polocrosse Club was formed. Initially matches were played on Saturday afternoons at various venues around the Yorke Pen

insula until the Hoyle family donated land to establish a central field and clubrooms based at Minlaton. After 10 years of matches in the afternoon heat, lights were erected in 1962. The 1963 season commenced with the fields and lights established, making YP the first club to play under lights in Australia. To this day the Yorke Peninsula Polocrosse Club continues the tradition of playing a local competition under lights on Saturday nights. In addition, members also travel to compete in tournaments both within the state, and around Australia. The playing season runs from late September until late April and regular matches are held at the club's grounds which are on the Maitland Rd just out of Minlaton.
