Dear Vikings, Dear Friends

Allow us to jump directly to the conclusion: Unfortunately, we have sad news for you: There will be no Midsummer Vikings in 2023.

Given the current economic environment with steep inflation, rising energy costs, and a recession looming ahead, we unfortunately cannot deliver the high-quality event we all love.

We have repeatedly reviewed budgets and explored other ways to run the event, but we fear that this would compromise quality and lower that magical event experience significantly for both organizers, volunteers and all our participants.

We are extremely proud of the legacy we together have built around the Midsummer Vikings since 2019, and therefore it also saddens us deeply to make this call.

But we promise to come back in 2024 with a new version of Midsummer Vikings.

As the race had to be stopped and re-started two hours later due to bad weather, there is a race 1 and race 2 column and the total laps as well. Congratulations to all of you for some epic paddling and thank you so much for the great contribution you all made for SMILfonden!

Shoutout to all vikings! A huge amount of respect goes out to all participants in this race 👏🏼 Conditions have been super tough tonight and this morning, and we know that race neutralizations are never fun, but safety comes first. Viking weather is upon us but you guys just take on the challenge. Enjoy the rest of the day and I’ll see you all on the champagne lap. You guys deserve it 🥳

(The race has been neutralized for safety reasons due to thunder/lightning. Conditions are being evaluated and a briefing 7.45 onsite will determine the next possible start. We thank all our tough vikings for the understanding!)
