Swipe to see my postpartum journey ➡️
Snapback culture? Yeah, it had me all kinds of messed up. Seven days postpartum, I was already stressing about getting my pre-baby body back. But here’s the truth: I could barely walk. I was limping around, struggling with stairs, and spending my days on the couch feeding my baby. My family had to take care of me because I couldn’t take care of myself.
Postpartum recovery looks different for everyone, but for me, those early days were rough. My hips felt like they were splitting, and I could barely hold my own body weight. By six weeks, I was so frustrated. I wanted to work out, do squats, lift weights—anything to feel like myself again. But I was exhausted, barely sleeping, and adjusting to breastfeeding.
I bought a postpartum workout program, but the exercises felt too easy. I didn’t believe they could help. A few months later, I quit and went back to lifting heavy, running 5Ks, and training hard. I thought I was “ready.”
Spoiler alert: I wasn’t. My body started to give out. Eventually, I had to face some tough truths: pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti, and a weak pelvic floor. Standing for 8 hours at work was a struggle. I had to start over—with physiotherapy and proper postpartum recovery.
Fast forward to now, almost 4 years postpartum. I’m doing the exercises I should’ve done back then. I’ve learned postpartum recovery isn’t about “snapping back.” It’s about respecting your body, building strength, and healing the right way. 💪🏾✨
If you’re on this journey too, remember: slow progress is still progress. You’ve got this. ❤️
