Great overnighter despite the heat and the threat of storms and strong winds. Quite a few had to cancel for this event but hopefully we’ll see them on the next one 🙂

Well it's been a long time coming!! Recent crazy weather due to La Nina has made it rather difficult to plan paddles, let alone weekend trips like this long overdue Moreton Island overnighter. Hopefully there'll be many more soon. Thanks guys for your great company.

Mud Island Adventure: when it's windy things happen. One of the best day paddles this year. Took the tide with light winds to Mud Island from Manly and waited an hour or so in the moon scape for the 15 - 20 knot north easterly wind to come in and it did! After escaping the lagoon and its' broken coral we raced home. A couple of capsizes caught us by surprise but the Sea Guide amongst us put his training to good use. Great day everyone and thanks for coming.

It has been a long time personal goal of mine to become a Paddle Australia accredited Sea Instructor. I have made several attempts over the twenty something years that I have been on the water but as most of you will understand, juggling kayaking with work, family and life in general is not simple. Well this year the stars have aligned and today I achieved that goal. I'd like to thank the awesome QSKC crew who participated in the Peel Island assessment/training weekend and a special thanks to Brian (Macca) McCarthy for the great support. Also a big thanks to all the wonderful folk I have paddled with along the way that have helped me to get where I am today... you all know who you are 😉 Deb McCarthy

Thanks to Howard Rogers and Paul Glover for organizing this joint QSKC and Coast Guard QF7 Redland Bay training day. Great time was had by all and needless to say, it was very educational for all involved. My favourite rescue was the "Sushi Roll" technique used to get an injured swimmer into a rescue boat. Of course big thanks to those who braved the cold water.
