We call on government to instigate emergency funding in the form of a Sports Recovery Fund to ensure sport clubs, fitness and leisure facilities - the lifeblood of communities across the nation – can remain open and survive the coming difficult months.

In light of ongoing and varying restrictions across the UK, we announce the cancellation of the 2020 BYCs & GB Cup, and the Senior Nationals.

We are currently working on plans to support a return to small scale, localised competitions with a flexible format to adapt to ongoing restrictions, which will be submitted to DCMS.

R.I.P. Matt

Matthew Dickinson, former Junior GBR fencer died tragically this weekend from SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome).

Age 20, Matt represented GBR in over thirty U17 and U20 international events, including 4 European and World Championships.

In March 2016, at age 16 Matt became the youngest winner of the U23 National Championships, winning the U20 Junior title the same year. One of Britain's most successful young epee fencers of recent years, Matt’s European U17 Circuit results included individual gold in Ankara (2015), and two top 8 finishing positions in Bonn (2014) and Krakow (2014).

On behalf of BF and the fencing community, we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family at this time.
