Kyla is unofficially 43rd at NXN out of a field of about 200 runners!!!

It was a historic race yesterday in the Class 1A Girls State Final: Five of the top ten times ever run in Class A/1A meet history happened yesterday alone! Kyla's 16:20 is the fourth fastest time ever run in Class A/1A State Final history at Detweiller Park, going back to 2002. A record nine girls broke the 17-minute mark in Class 1A yesterday! Kyla now owns the three best State Meet times in Westmont Girls Cross Country program history at the legendary Detweiller Park, and the top five best overall times.

Yesterday's All-State cutoff was 17:51 - the fastest ever in 1A history, and the top 25 averaged an incredible 17:07!

Aelyn (19:30 for 112th place) is in 8th place on the career best times in Westmont Girls Cross Country State Final history; that time also broke into the top 30 times ever run by Westmont Girls Cross Country runners at Detweiller Park, ranking as the 28th fastest time in program history. Aelyn's 19:30 also places ninth on the career best list at Detweiller, and ranks as the second fastest freshman runner in program history at the State Final on the 3.0 mile course at Detweiller, which has been used since 2002.

Cross Country had a great meet at Bureau Valley's Dale Donner Invitational this morning! All the Sentinels ran great races and big congratulations to Kyla (meet champion) and Aelyn (20th) who earned trophies in the Girls Varsity race!

Big shoutout to our Cross Country crew today at their big meet in Peoria! Kyla finished 3rd overall in the 1A Girls race in a time of 16:50, and all of our Sentinels ran amazing races in the huge fields of more than 400 runners in the girls race and nearly 700 runners in the boys race! Way to go, Sentinels!

Westmont Cross Country is adding two new members to the Sentinel Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday night!

-Coach Steve Wolf will be inducted - Coach Wolf coached the Sentinels to five state trophies, including four State Runner Up finishes, 10 IHSA Sectional titles, 18 IHSA Regional titles, and 20 Conference Championships over 45 years of coaching. 15 boys teams and 9 girls teams made the trip to legendary Detweiller Park for the IHSA State meet, and 100 Sentinel runners qualified to run on the state meet course.

-Linda Jurkowski '95, a member of back-to-back Cross Country State Trophy teams (1993 and 1994), will be inducted. She helped the Sentinels to earn three consecutive team conference championships as well as back-to-back IHSA Regional and Sectional championships, and three trips to Detweiller Park. She was All-Conference three times and earned IHSA Regional medals twice.

Westmont Cross Country also congratulates Matt O'Leary '19 (Male Athlete) and the 2006 Softball team on their induction into the Hall of Fame.

Induction is at halftime of the varsity boys basketball game on Friday, scheduled for a 7:30 pm tip-off. We hope you can join us to celebrate Linda, Coach Wolf, and our inductees!

Our 5 time State Trophy winning Cross Country Coach Steve Wolf and two time State trophy member (1993 and 1994) Linda Jurkowski ‘95 are going to be inducted into the Westmont Sentinel Athletics Hall of Fame next month! Congrats to all of the inductees! Join us on February 7!!
