In 1991, a group of individuals noticed that a few youth were playing football in the Town of Brunswick. The Brunswick Youth Football League was founded.

They decided to do something about it and started a youth sports program for middle school aged children. Its original purpose was to develop a youth football program which might benefit the community by giving the youth something positive to do. As time went on, the organization changed its name to the Brunswick Area Youth Football League and it grew in size and scope. As BAYFL has grown, a cheer

ing program was added and more towns have been included. Through the years, it has become clear that football is a means to an end rather than an end in itself - the primary focus of BAYFL has become developing character and teaching sportsmanship. Football and cheering are merely the activities used to teach these values.
