It’s a sport that challenges you mentally and physically more than you ever thought possible. You suffer only as much pain as you dare to push yourself. And although fighting is not required, testing your limits will be! Like everything else in life, boxing can be dangerous if you’re reckless about it. It’s dangerous if you let pride stand in the way of common sense, emotion in the way of intelligence. The only pain in boxing is having your ego shredded to pieces; the biggest risk is being too scared to improve yourself.” - John Nguyen, Expertboxing.com


The Cal Boxing Club is the oldest and the largest collegiate boxing program in the country. In existence since 1916, it is currently a member of the National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) and USA Boxing. At Cal Boxing, we pride ourselves as being a team built for students, by students. We offer Cal students– male/female, grad/undergrad– a wide range of organized boxing training. Whether you have prior boxing experience or none at all, we have a training regiment for you! Students will have an opportunity to learn boxing skills, to condition as a competitive athlete, and, with coaches’ approval, to compete against similar opponents from universities nationwide. Our members join for a variety of reasons. So if you’re looking to learn boxing, to get a great workout, or to take on a challenge – we’ll see you in the gym.

On Monday, our captains Aaron and Joseph represented us at the New York Athletic Club—a boxing event only for the best in the nation. Super proud of their hard work 💪💪
