Westside Blitz to Take a Break in 2026

After an incredible 2025 tournament building on the success of the previous year, the decision has been made to pause the Westside Blitz in 2026.

The 2025 Blitz was a huge success on the court and off the court with the community engagement, but behind the scenes it was a monumental effort. Months of planning, coordinating schedules, securing venues and accommodation, managing teams and volunteers, and handling countless logistical details went into trying to deliver a smooth, professional event. The commitment, energy, and long hours required to bring it all together were immense.

While the tournament brought tremendous excitement and engagement across the West Coast and the wider basketball community, the scale of the work means the team needs time to recover and reflect.

At this stage, no decisions have been made regarding future editions of the Westside Blitz. Time will be taken to evaluate what is possible and consider the best path forward.

We would like to sincerely thank our sponsors, funders, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to making the Blitz such a success in 2025. Your support, passion, and commitment were vital to the event.

🔥 Hats off to the Southland Sharks for an outstanding season and a hard-fought run to the Grand Final.

The NBS Nelson Giants have part of Westside events since inception and their support has been instrumental in bringing NBL basketball to the Coast.

They know need the support of the basketball community as they battle a ludicrous decision by their local council which threatens the future of the much loved franchise which many Coast players have gone on to play for over the years.
